I wouldn't call Molyneux a lolcow, though. He's certainly fucked up enough to be one, but I think it's too kind a word. I always saw lolcows as people who are stupid but harmless. Molyneux's a cult leader in all but name.

I vaguely keep track of what Stefan's up to, and his recent video is as usual disgustingly long for what it is, but it's about 40 minutes of Stefan steadily getting nuttier and nuttier, taking the matter discussed very personally. What he presents is, as they say, not an argument. Argument from authority, all that good stuff. The 23 minute marker is where he begins ripping into the kid for not being a """"popular"""" youtuber like himself, and daring to challenge him.

Not sure if I would call him a lolcow personally (but I can certainly see why someone might think that, I just think he's a bit too boring to be one), but he's certainly a bit off kilter.

I've been wanting this thread for a long time.

Molymeme has a great change of heart over the years.

What caused him to stop being what he was like in 2008 was he got viscously kicked out of the AnCap community. He quite literally didn't let the free market of ideas decide whether or not they liked his videos and did this by sockpuppeting his videos heavily and on his Frozen video he accidentally posted a comment on one of videos pretending to be a girl who was a huge fan of him, but he used his main account to post it.

Cause of this, Molymeme started drifting more and more and more to what he is now today as he desperately needed an audience to con out of as past audiences started having enough of him.


So the OP mentions Molymeme's " movement of young adults leaving their families over political differences, thereby threatening the family unit" thing.

Ugh, my brother's obsessed with this dude. Pretty much gets all his political ideas from him. He's actually tried to DeFOO, or begin the process of DeFOOing before, but he realised he'd be fucked without our parents so backed down. It was actually pretty funny - he tried to shittalk our mum and justified it by saying she couldn't tell him what to do because it wasn't her house, before mum pointed out that she'd actually contributed half the purchase price of the house so it was as much hers as Dad's. Seeing his argument shot down like that was hilarious.

Something about this guy really rubs me up the wrong way and I don't know what it is. I watched his interview with Dave Rubin (more for Rubin than for him) and he came across pretty sane there, but he was probably moderating himself in the hope of attracting new followers. Like any good cult leader, you reel them in with the rational stuff before hitting them over the head with the crazy.

Also, what the fuck is up with his accent? I know he was born in England and then moved to Canada, but his part-Canadian, part-British, part-French accent is just... strange.
