I hate that Hunger Games, and other such mediocre YA is being talked about more than Stephen Baxter. Sure, his works may not have been perfect, but they had amazing characterization and a fascinating basis in real science (as well as delightfully insane pseudoscience that is basically magic). He also doesn't let science get too overbearing, so that a more general audience can understand his works (at least, from what I've seen of the Manifold series, and the Xeelee Sequence).
