This reminds me of the wholesome story about Liechtenstein during the Austro-Prussian war. Where Liechtenstein had 80 soldiers who, due to the irrelevence of their position, just enjoyed beer in the summer and became the only army in history to return home with negative casualties...returning with 81 men because they made a friend along the way.
Same energy I get from Steve's war fantasy.

Not all heroes shoot guns. Some say "nice hiss" and "let's get this out onto a tray." Steve is the Mr. Rogers of eating pure botulism like it was chocolate, following it up with a cigarette, and somehow getting healthier while doing it.
All wars would end if, in the middle of the battlefield, Steve was waiting there with enough retort pouches and flameless heaters for everyone to enjoy a nice meal instead of shooting.
Every time I see this thread it scares me into thinking something happened. even when I know better that Steve's an example of chill and fun.

Steve would've been completely at home appearing on a Mr. Rogers episode. Come to think of it, I think that much genuine wholesomeness might've had side effects
I like watching the videos. Favorite part is when the rations are opened and you can see just what is contained within the ration. Very interesting to see what some countries feed their troops.
Steve takes unboxing and mukbangs, the two most autistic YouTube formulas, and combines them into a series of entertaining videos with the power of his honest enthusiasm for the topic.
I wouldn't say Steve does mukbangs as there is no social element (he doesn't interact with his viewers on his videos, nor does he talk about his life or his shitting cycle in the case of Niko) to it, the focus isn't on Steve eating it but it is on the ration it self (Steve some times won't even eat it), nor is there a vast exceese of food used (his larger ones he will eat though out the day as his meals). Steve does more of a review of the food, and goes though any interesting history of the ration/menu.

I can see your point. I've done a lot of watching Steve enthuse about eating a meal while I eat my own meal, which feels like some kind of friendly communion, but I can't say I understand muckbangery enough to be able to define what is/isn't one.
This is just me clarifying/organizing my thoughts out more.
I don't watch mukbangs but my understanding is that the common elements are
1) Some sort of intentional social element* be it interacting with viewers, treating it like a vblog (taking about life, and in the case of Niko things like his bowel issues).
2) excessive amounts of food is being displayed and/or being ate in one sit in (or in the case of Niko his food being thrown around in one of his tantrums).
3) The focus of the video is on the food and the mukbanger
Steve's videos although the focus is on the food, it is treated more like a review of the food. He (normally) eats some and gives his opinions on it, maybe the history of the ration/menu item and the context of its creation, and other information that helps the viewer understand the ration. Steve doesn't talk about his personal life or anything he is involved with unless its related to his channel / MRE stuff and even then he won't (such as he disassocated him self with an MRE museum for some reason).
*Steve's natural charisma and wholesomeness gives him an unintentional social element as who wouldn't want someone like Steve as a friend to hang out with, shoot the shit, and forget about the stresses of life

But then one day he wrote a comment response to somebody saying that he deletes race-related comments and bans anyone who posts them.
I can see wanting to keep a friendly atmosphere and also not run afoul of the Google cash machine but his comment still smelled like woke and so I stopped watching.
The censorship is bad enough but I really hate underhanded shit like blocking users who aren't spambots.
But then one day he wrote a comment response to somebody saying that he deletes race-related comments and bans anyone who posts them.

On its face, it seems like a reasonable policy. Racial discussion isn't relevant to his content and derails quickly. Moderating a YouTube channel's comments takes a lot of time and energy when it's at all popular, and Steve's a one-man show.
But there are a lot of ways to explain that, some of which make sense and some of which raise the hair on the back of one's neck. There's a difference between banning people for comments about China treating their troops as disposable (w/r/t the PLA rations), versus just nuking "lol chinks" comments.
muckbang is basically food porn made by thots on their way to starting onlyfans. They act all cute and uwu while eating making noises they think are sexy and get guys to subscribe/simp to them. Steve is as far removed from that as can be. He just takes a look at army food and gives a little history lesson and then takes a look at whats inside, eating it if its in date or at least safe for consumption. He never asks people to subscribe to him nor does it feel like he does this for attention but because it's what he likes doing. It's almost like having a chat, a smoke and a drink with an old friend from school or work.
It was a few years ago and he put it all straight down the memory hole before I even saw what the person had said. As he does MRE ration eating I would bet it was some kind of "gook" comment about Vietnam or something...that would be my best guess.
The "shadowbanning" horseshit had me much more MATI than the deleted comments tbh. Passive aggressive crap is such a fag move.
I just hate seeing the whole damn internet turn into one big Reddit.
