That was Jacques Mallet du Pan, he is one of the fathers of political journalism and was a blatant monarchist.
"A l'exemple de Saturne, la révolution dévore ses enfants" and he was abolutely right as every revolution since the French Revolution inevitably ate its children.
The culmination of this theory was the Russian October Revolution which ended inevitably in Stalins Purges.
I can't help but feel I need to start reading from your book shelf.

Not sure if anybody has posted this yet but:
Imagine thinking having your career tied to game, especially one as irrelevant as Smash, is a positive thing. You guys should get into streaming, you seem like you understand the market a lot! :)

Imagine also thinking my platform is unstable when I've been doing it for 8 years. That's like three times the average length of a software job in SF, lol.

Destiny had uploaded an hour-long video in which he described his moral system a few days ago:

Later he had a conversation with a youtuber with a PhD in philosophy about it:

Discussions with professional philosophers nearly always sound like bloviating to me, but there was a bit at the end I found entertaining. The guy is a vegan. And, he goes further than that. Not only humans consuming meat are acting immorally, but also any killing of an animal would better be prevented.

The conclusion of this thinking they discussed is that the sheer existence of obligate carnivores is unethical because they cannot help but cause suffering and death to their prey. Therefore, it would be desirable to, shall we say, genocide cats through preventing them from breeding.

It was baffling to me when he couldn't answer if it would be morally right to run over a random cat while driving to save the thousands lives that cat would kill. These people that get so deep into philosophy metaethics develop such level of autism you start justifying killing random creatures to support their morals.

The vegan's philosophy is just... really lame. Causing pain, suffering, and death is essential to being a living thing. Most people rightfully find this problematic just by using their empathy but realize that a life without suffering is an empty shell of existence. A good idea is harnessing these "dark" drives into creating things greater than the humans who made them, not stamping those drives out. The great sciences, arts, philosophies, and so on are base instincts elevated into something deeply spiritual. If the vegan finds basic instincts that bad, than he has a problem with life herself.

Also, I love the vegan's hypocrisy: "I can't tolerate carnivores causing suffering and death, so let's make entire species die."

The problem is, the people dont want that.

E-celebs usually start off being authentic randoms on the internet. People like engaging with authenticity. But the moment you hire HR to proofread your tweets etc, your fans WILL notice and start a decline.

Even if the platform wants you to be an npc, your fans dont. Its a perpetually difficult tightrope you walk until you get banned (Destiny, Ethan Ralph) or cuck out for big bucks and sell the soul of your content (H3H3), which people notice and slowly walk away from.

I'm surprised he didn't start talking about how we should retool our entire economy towards breeding rats and putting them on a heroine drip.

Moral cowardice. He should have bitten the bullet on it. The conclusion follows from his premises as far as I can see.

I'm sure nothing bad would happen if there was nothing keeping herbivore numbers in check
He could have proposed controlling populations the same way humans control the population of stray dogs: by neutering. However, this would be unmanageable in practice.

Also, I love the vegan's hypocrisy: "I can't tolerate carnivores causing suffering and death, so let's make entire species die."
His rebuttal would be that he plans to genocide obligate carnivores in a way which causes them neither suffering nor premature death. It would involve neutering as it is performed regularly today.

When are these YouTube philosophers finally gonna come to the realization that morality is cringe?
Every time an e-celeb philosopher says morality is cringe, somebody wheels out the paedophile question again, and the discourse recommences.

I really love cats but theyre absolutely murderous little shits that fuck up local animal populations. Just keeping an eye out on the destiny and vaush front, I keep hoping to hear vaush and his girlfriend have ended up beaten and murdered while destiny was on holiday out the country wow
