A fan asked if there would ever be make gems on the show; seeing as the gems are technically sexless space rocks, and can look like anything they want. His response was telling them off in a rude way, and saying something along the lines that if guys want to see representation they can go watch Captain America or whatever the hell the example was (good Lord I really wish I had the tweet on hand so it was more fresh in my mind). And something about "hyper-masculinity".

It really came across as " we only think women should have diverse things to enjoy, men already have lots of stuff so you asking is greedy." Even though I'm fairly certain the asker was female. All it served to do was enforce the shiftiness of the fandom, who really fucking hate men, and brought about an even bigger backlash against male gemsonas (yep, they didn't want fans making male fan characters because misogyny or mansplaining or something).

It also left a sour feeling in my mouth and many others, because it obviously didn't occur to him that maybe men would like to see themselves in something that wasn't "hyper-masculine". And was basically throwing gnc, feminine, trans, etc guys under the bus.

So yeah, even if he's not as spergy, he still has VERY big SJW moments that are not thought out at all. Really contradicted himself, though as far as I know he wised the fuck up after the backlash.

On another note, yeah I'm sure a good portion of the Steven Universe team is at least somewhat tumblr-like.

Amber Rogers for example, who's a storyboard artist, is your standard type. Basically, bare minimum of what you think of when someone says "Tumblr". You know, colorful hair, talks too much about being a lesbian (They announced that they're getting married to their girlfriend Shelby who I think also works on the show)

The two actually have a webcomic called NEOKOSMOS which at a glance is mostly your Homestuck style looking thing... I made it in a few pages, the kiddos were doing some gender bullshit over chatrooms which made me eyeroll slightly, and also one of the main characters has the obligatory vitiligo skin that tumblr likes to put on people. Also, it has the exact same art style as Steven Universe so when I first saw it, I literally thought it was related to the show. I didn't feel like reading further so I cant tell you if the writing is good or bad.

Those two are alright I suppose aside from those things, though. I don't recall Amber or Shelby ever going apeshit before

Is every single person who makes this show pretty much like the fans of it? I've heard of "going native" and acting more like your fans, but the only things that seems to separate the average SU fan from the average SU staff member is a minute bit of artistic talent and a general idea of a career.

Rebecca Sugar, the creator, seems to be more reserved and keeps the fandom at arms length from her. Given the kind of fanbase of her show has, I can't say I blame her.

Ian Jones Quartley seems like a cool dude who seems level headed in regards to interacting with the fantards. I don't really keep up with him though.

There seem to be a lot of tumblry people working on the show but none of them seem to be as exceptional as Zuke here.

While I still don't know if the original blog was actually zuke, this is just... Stupid? Like if you really wanted to bring more drama to Zuke would you have not kept the blog running so she would have to come forward to prove he blog wasn't her?

And I also agree that the rest of the Steven universe crew, as far as I've seen, aren't as bad as their fan base. They might make a comment every now and then, but it's just not smart to rant all the time and alienate everyone who doesn't agree with you, and I assume they know it.

Nah, Jasper hates fusion originally but then fused with Lapis and got super into it even though Lapis was keeping them both Under Da Sea as Malachite. You're thinking of Garnet, who was revealed to actually be a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire during a season finale shortly after Jasper was introduced, and CONFIRMED SPACE ROCK LESBIANS and pretty much was the point where there was no turning back for the fandom.
