Just to throw the topic back on Zuke for a bit but she was a lot more ingrained in the whole Fandom outside of just interacting with fans. Back 1-2 (?) ish years ago she was reading a fanfiction that a fan had wrote, going as far as to post how excited she was at what was happening in it and couldn't wait for the next chapter. Stuff like that.
It was a pearl/amethyst fic that I believe she was reffering to, dunno if she ever read other stuff or if it was all shipping stuff. There was a post that analyzed the whole "Zuke reads x fic" thing, but I dont think I would be able to dig it up on mobile right now.
Anyway if she was that into fanfiction and all that it doesn't surprise me that she would put more focus into the shipping aspect instead of character development or whatever else. Who knows maybe she even wrote her own fics?

One of the show's creators (who is black himself) draws gem that sorta looks like racial stereotypes of black people, SU fandom freaks the fuck out again and sends more death threats.
The tumblr war on this seems to be divided between people drawing fanart of the gem because they don't think it's racist, people who are trying to point out that even though it was unintentionally offensive, everyone apologized and nobody is actually a racist so the fandom needs to let it go at this point, and the rest of the fandom who are sending death threats and posting angry blogs about how they've been betrayed 5ever by the show.
