People who pretend to be in the middle just so they can say they're above everyone else tend to be the worst, just saying. I get the point but still.

I really should talk about that whole "use it and abuse it, then leave it" attitude that a lot of these people have about fandoms. Like someone mentioned, these same people were once obsessed with Adventure Time and Korra. I myself said that if this thread were made like a year or two ago it would probably be about Adventure Time. But the thing is, the way that they ended up treating that show proved that they really only were fans of it as long as it was something they felt comfortable using as a defense for their social politics. When it did things that it didn't like, they dropped it. See Finn growing up and not becoming what Tumblr wanted him to be.

It reminds me of the few people who pay attention to a young male character on MLP, really the only young male character on MLP. Usually he's ignored but my God the people that get genuinely angry at him for having a crush on a female character (commonly used to soapbox STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMYN ideals despite her being incredibly romantic and traditional as fuck) and as well as acting "like a boy." I guess him liking going to the spa isn't enough if he likes football and comics too. I only mention this because I think when they show Steven growing up more and not turning into someone like Dobson, they're going to be pissed.

Why is this thread still alive?
Autism.

So... how many death threats do you think they got?

More than enough (...to likely backpedal - which I would hate to see and hear happen.).

I wouldn't be watching AT period if Finn (and Jake) hadn't gone through some actual believable character development, period, TBH - that, and that show just works better when it's not always focused on Finn & Jake.
Seriously, it's like these people don't even know what good character development is, TBH.

I know exactly what character you're talking about and he's the only one I truly like on that stupid show..... Too bad he doesn't have any good focus episodes and only functions well as a background character, which I think really sucks and is wasted potential for someone who hangs with the main cast 90% of the time!

As for what's on subject (sorry to sperg like that, BTW.), I'd definitely like to see the looks on these fans stupid faces when Steven does grow up and stops acting so damn naive and easy to please. How will they handle their precious show, then - provided it lasts longer than 2 seasons, that is. I need not remind anyone (whether you like the show I'm about to point out or not!) that Teen Titans GO! is the real cartoon putting butts in seats right now, way more than this ever could...

A little column A, a little column B. As you can tell by my avatar, I really like the show.

I'm seeing a lot of column B and not very much of column A. At this point column A might as well be illegible scribblings in the margin of a whole-page column B.

As you can tell by my avatar, I really like the show.

I can't tell anything from your avatar because I'm not a pants-shitting manbaby who watches children's cartoons.

Just ignore @CatParty and @Dynastia. They're just being a couple of weens and trying to derail the thread.

You're right, ignore us weens and go back to discussing the many nuanced characters and plot twists of Steven Universe.

Uh, I mean... talking about their shitty fandom. Who are lolcows and way dumber than us cool, intelligent people who just happen to enjoy a children's cartoon in a cool non-autistic way and are not at all insecure about that fact.

(psst ; if you made a thread about it here to simply discuss the show you like, instead of pretending to be making fun of its fans as an excuse to talk about it like some grade-a trollshielders, I wouldn't be here pointing and giggling right now)

But they do have a thread there, they've had one all month.

Hellblazer even made it explicitly for that purpose.

Okay, since some people feel that there's been a lack of real discussion in this thread, here's some spergy posts from the fandom to get us going again:

I wonder if they know the crossover was Rebecca Sugar's idea in the first place?

I had a feeling at least some of these guys would be butthurt about the JFK/Charles Whitman joke in the latest episode.

Anyway, feel free to discuss, and remember to keep discussion relative to the fandom, and not just the show. Talking about the show is fine to explain the context of something a fan has said, but general discussion about the show goes in its own thread.

You mean when the guys who have to deal with monsters and alien conquerors get told something's an emergency they might think it's a big deal?

Or that people might think the gems are "female-coded" when they're... always referred to as if female and they literally never complain about it or even correct anyone? For that matter, what excuses calling something "POC-coded" when they're obvious not even human?

Why is it that nearly everything they ever say can be taken apart with only a second's worth of thought?

They just want more of their precious "P.O.C.", and they're happy to slap that label on any character they happen to like. I've seen people claim that white, human characters are actually "P.O.C.". It's the same reason why they label nearly every character as trans and autistic.
