Well assuming they don't just have the majority of the gems just fuck off to space by the start of the next season, they could probably do some interesting stories about the earth gems integrating with human society and the problems which would rise from it.

So apparently this episode had like... 10 different storyboarders, which explains why every single frame is Season 1 off model. And of course the Youtube channels who got fat off SU are crooning that it's an amazing and great thing, similar to how "The Bye Bye Man" tried to say their movie was good because "they did the first scene all in one take".
Wasn't the point that White Diamond didn't know she was doing anything wrong? She thought she was making stuff better by trying to make her world an overly idealistic perfection, ironically making everything worse. She was still a bad person, but it was obvious she cared, at some times more than others, about the other diamonds, and even the other gems.
Sort of. It more portrayed her as wanting everything her way because it was the "right" way and how she wanted it. Which isn't exactly about caring and is more about wanting control. If we really want to analyze it it's probably because Pink Diamond fucking off made her snap mentally. Apparently she was semi-decent before that. Or at least was said to hang out with the other Diamonds and actually leave her little head spaceship.
Anyway though. I don't think the SU Critical fans quite get this show is meant for kids and NOT just for them. Sugar making Steven whip out a sword and shatter White wouldn't be a great message for kids. So I kind of understand the whole thing of just talking fixing everything.
They want Steven to start some Communist revolution or some shit. It's just a children's TV show made by a pretty annoying crew. Looking so deeply into it like these people do is pretty dumb.
You weren't a kid in the 80's, were you? The hero killing the villain was considered perfectly acceptable and I don't recall anybody ever trying to slice another kid in half because they saw Voltron whip out a sword and cut the monster of the day in two.
It's not about what the show would make kids do. Steven Universe has never been about destroying villains. That's the one thing the show at least keeps straight. Steven consistently tries to save people even if they're bad to give people a chance. There's nothing wrong with the show not having Steven killing White Diamond. It'd be out of character for the show to have White Diamond killed by Steven.
Like I said. It's just a children's show made by an annoying preachy crew. Considering the SU critical fans are screeching "I want White Diamond to be shattered and all the facsist gems to DIE" it's funnier that the conflict ended peacefully.

Amen. And now that I've seen some smart arguments from here that the idiots/losers on SU Critical and some parts of /co/, where they also secretly fester (and idiots/losers is what they are. FACT.), have failed to back up in any sense - and not sound like it all clearly is... I'm honestly, but
quietly enough about it, developing some reasonable amount of respect for this otherwise mediocre / awesome-ly bad show, IMHO.
A lockdown might be needed someday, so we don't end up like a certain other cartoon autist, I certainly must agree with that. Too bad if this were an anime, I gotta ask how much better it would be... I don't think it would have as many episodes and would have ended much much sooner by now, for starters. How good it would be besides that much is anyone else's guess.

I'm so sick of these wannabe radical tumblrinas crying about shows that aren't a 1:1 to real life. It's a children's show exploring gender, sexuality, and abusive relationships and people in a child-friendly way with more realism and nuance than usually gets.

And I've come to realize those vids are more embarrassing than just watching the show and forming your own opinions on it, like smart people should do more on average... You can't tell me these vids aren't cringy in some ways, either, which they all are.
