Chrono Trigger would be cool, but with Dragon Quest in it would seem redundant. I say this knowing how many Fire Emblem characters there are.

Until based Anna is included as a fighter, there are not enough Fire Emblem characters in Smash.
It's almost like Nintendo should be inspired by her if they want to make money.
It is redundant, but it's okay to be redundant if what we'd get for being redundant is a cool character. They could always grab someone not Chrono if they care that hard, but as mentioned, FE chars prove they don't care about repeats.

So you get rid of the swordies: Crono, Frog and Magus (scythe). Robo could be neat but is he iconic enough? You could make him a rival to ROB so there'd be another bot. Marle could be okay with her crossbow and magic to act as a companion character to Zelda. Lucca is probably a better choice though considering she has a gun; there aren't enough gun characters in the game. But then again Ayla would be pretty sick, punching everything to death.

We ship Queen Zeal and Andross now.
But we have no scythe users, I wouldn't call Magus a swordie due to that and how much magical awesome he is. Ayla would be fucking sick tho and I'm all for her getting in and breaking spines.

Seriously though, a while back I suggested King Boo as a fighter, and the more I think about it, the more I'd like to see him added.
Not only would it add another villain to the game, but him being a ghost would give him a unique moveset.

Actually, Puyo Puyo didn't belong to Sega originally, and first debuted on Nintendo's Famicom Disc System(and the MSX2).
Puyo Puyo itself is a spin-off to a dungeon-crawling RPG series called "Madō Monogatari" (which is where most of the earlier games' characters originate from), it has long since eclipsed the series it spun off from.
So, Puyo Puyo is Persona and Madō Monogatari is Shin Megami Tensei basically.

Why hasn’t anyone suggested Toad and Toadette to be the next new characters for Smash? They did have a game together, if anyone even remembers that:
Toad is already part of Peach/Daisy's moveset.
Yeah but I sometimes wish that Toad would be a playable character instead of just a move set. To see him and Toadette battling side by side would be a funny thing to witness.
