Share your real supernatural experiences here! I think discussing stuff like this can be very interesting because reading other peoples experiences can not only be entertaining but interesting and make us redetermine our beliefs about such things.

This can include stuff like ghosts / experiences / cryptid(s) or fucked up things you or your family / friends have seen.

When I was four, I turned a corner into a dark room and saw a luminescent peice of white cloth with a visible floral-pattern stitching disappear behind the open door. It looked like part of a dress. To this day I can still remember it clearly and have never been able to explain it.

I had a lot of things happen to me as a kid. From hearing thuds on the stairs, seeing ghost faces in dark bathrooms or hallways, seeing shit during power outages, and having hands pull at me while I sleep, voices in my closet, ect ect

I think I've brought it up on the farms before but my Great Granda saw a Banshee.
But anyway the story goes that they were sitting in the house one night and then they heard something screaming and crying out in the back garden, so he went out side to see what it was and when he went out he saw a small woman dressed in white screaming and crying while brushing her hair sitting on his coal bunker, So he then lifted a spade and threw it at her then she suddenly disappeared.
It turns out that when they woke up the next morning they found out that the next door neighbor had passed away.

Years ago, I went to New Hampshire with my mom to visit my Aunt. I fucking hated going to New Hampshire; not only was it unspeakably fucking boring, but it always involved staying at my insane Aunt's place. For reasons known only to her, she bought a little place at the ass-end of Marlowe, a place so god-forsaken that it's like 80% farmsteads and the local general store is like 8 miles down the line. IIRC it was the poorest down in the USA for a goddamned long time, and according to the locals, over the years this place has been home to virtually every form of human tragedy, and the town in general always gave me this creepy vibe in general. Fucking hated the place.

The house itself was unsettling, like it wasn't built all at once. It had unvarnished wood floors for most of the place but the walls and such were properly furnished. The only television set in the house was a black-and-white set in the living room that took like 20 minutes to fire up. My Aunt did not have a VCR, cable, or internet. She was fucking weird.

Anyway. Because I didn't want to stay with mom or with my Aunt, I wound up staying in the loft. The loft was the newest part of the house and arguably the nicest. The only downside was having to climb down this obnoxious fucking ladder every time I wanted to go downstairs. During one fateful night, however, something... Strange happened. Something that's haunted me since.

It was late - still dark out, and I had to use the bathroom, so I climbed downstairs, did my business, and then started to exit the bathroom when I got this really cold, unpleasant feeling, like something was impossibly wrong. It was quiet, save for the wind and then I heard it - the loud clomping of boots on the wooden floor downstairs. Something really heavy, and really big was down there. I checked over the banister, and in the darkness I couldn't really make out what it was - just a big shape, like a man in a big heavy coat, slowly walking towards the stairs. That's when I noticed the shape at the bottom of the stairs, taking its first step onto the landing - towards my position.

I ran to my room, slamming the door behind me, my heart beating loudly in my ears. I didn't know what the fuck this thing was, but I felt this goddamned thing intended to do me harm somehow. I grabbed one of my Cousin's 16-gauge shotguns, loaded it, and aimed it at the door from behind the sofa. I didn't care if it was my mom, my aunt, or something from the depths of hell, if it came anywhere near me, it was eating a faceful of birdshot if it came through that door.

The clomping continued until it got near the top of the steps, and then stopped. I stayed there, gun trained on the door, and the door never opened. The clomping didn't continue. I waited there for what must have been an hour or so, my legs cramping up from being hunched down so long, until the first traces of sunlight were visible through the window behind me. Nervously, I opened the door, looking around, with no clue as to where the thing went or what is was, and no evidence it had ever been there in the first place.

I unloaded the shotgun, put it back in the cabinet I got it from, and basically hid upstairs in the loft until we left about a day later.

When we were returning home, I told mom about the experience, and she immediately blanched: She explained she had had a similar encounter with a similar entity, years beforehand. One night, decades previous, she'd been staying in the master bedroom with her dog, and an entity - one very similar to the one I described - a big, humanoid shape with clomping boots - entered one night. While mom bunkered down and tried to not be noticed, her dog jumped up on the bed and barked at the intruder until it left. After it backed away, mom shut the door, and the pupper wound up nuzzling into her arms and shaking until morning.

I don't know if what either of us encountered was supernatural or simply my Aunt being an asshole (from my own experience, both are possible), but I do know this: I will never willingly go to Marlowe again. Fuck that place. Silent Hill, New Hampshire can fuck right off.

Get a therapist dude, some pills and at least you won't hear that shit so often, I'm on the same boat, sometimes I wake up with the sound of explosions, screams or random voices yelling my name, before getting help I used to see faceless people and fire on random places too, at least those are gone.

Spoiler: Alright story time

The place I used to work for almost two decades was already creepy as fuck for newcomers, one of those was a security guard, 22yo at the time, quite mature, focused on his job while at work, etc. One day around 3:00 AM I got a call from the head of the place, da boss asking me where the fuck I was and what I was doing, and I dindu nuffin, that day I was chilling at home with friends, so after asking why he was so pissed and all that shit he told me the guy was threatening to sue my workplace, me, my boss and the other security guards because they never came to help him while I was trying to kill him with a bonesaw and he only managed to get off my grip by jumping a third floor stair access and twisting his ankle.

Now my boss could've laugh him off because the other security guards said they didn't heard or saw anything and his rambling was maniacal, but the guy called the police, unmistakably identifying me due the scars pattern I have on one of my arms and they checked the security tapes, they don't cover everything, but on one of them for five seconds you could see the guy struggling with someone before moving out of focus, checking the other tapes you could see mere minutes later the guy heading to front desk and dragging his left leg, making angry gestures to the other guards, but none of the tapes show the attacker on the proximity of the building, entering or leaving the building, and just for clarification, it wasn't a hospital, there's only three guarded entrances and the rest of the building is covered with metal bars, so the only people inside at that hour was the guards.

This could've been some psycho on the lose, but the guy clearly remembers my scars pattern, my face and my voice telling him a bunch of nonsense about life, lies and freedom while trying to fuck his neck up, absolute wtf. Lucky me I had friends over that day and we were playing poker when the phone rang (no cellphones yet). My boss who was there for over 30 years at that moment told me that was the second time something like that happens.

I used to run engine room of large boat. When in port, there is just one roving shutdown watch. The watch sucked and could last up to 12 hours. There is nothing on, nothing to do, and no one to talk to.

New people would struggle because human brain makes own entertainment. You get auditory and visual hallucinations. This is why most countries consider complete isolation to be cruel punishment.

You would see weird shit on the long watches.

Every time I've ever gone to Roan Mountain, ghostly shit has happened. The first time ever, I heard the dishes downstairs rattling even though everyone was asleep and the cabin was still. Then other times it would be weird shit where there was "manmade" tapping on windows and walls.

And occasionally I'll go down dirt roads where there's an indecipherable supernatural disturbance, and at night, if I drive by an abandoned railroad bed, I'll hear the train horn.

About a decade ago, before I moved out of my old hometown, I took a wander around the village one last time. It was late, I wasn't feeling all that swell, and I couldn't sleep, but I thought a walk would do me good. It was cold out, slightly foggy, and I was gifted that night with seeing something that initially startled me, but later turned out to be nothing more than an interesting light phenomenon.

I was at to the docks. It was September, about 4AM on a sunday, and nobody was up yet. Sun's not up yet, and there's a pea-soup fog over the water. So I head to the gazebo, relax for a bit, and then head home, and that's when I saw it, off to the right. A massive, black entity in the mist, standing there. It looked like a 3D object, just hovering there in the sky like some massive ghost made of darkness.

It spooked me good... Until the nanosecond I noticed that it only moved when I did. Then I proceeded to amuse myself by making it dance because I'm fucking easily amused.

What I was looking at wasn't any sort of spoop, but a unique visual phenomenon known as a Brocken Spectre. While normally this phenomenon is created by sunlight, it can also be created by sufficiently bright artificial lights - in this case, the nearby park's streetlights. The light projects the shadow through the mist, which, due to the light-refracting properties of water and the usual perspective of the lights, gives the illusion of a three-dimensional appearance.

I got a couple of spoopy experiences that I've had happen in my life.

Spoiler: Little Broseph and the Violent Suicide Victim

When I was little (Like 4-6 year old little Broseph, so full of innocence and naivety) and laying in bed on my side, I'd feel something grab me by shoulder and pull me onto my back. When I looked at the wall I could make out the very faint and almost angry and pained features of a face on the wall before it quickly faded. I never really told anyone about it, but when I was in high school I found out from my parents that the house had belonged to a woman whose mentally ill husband had an episode and wound up killing himself in the hallway. Given that my parents experienced some weird shit as well (Shadows under the doors, against the walls, etc.) I'm prone to believe that this was a spirit. A very hostile spirit, too, given the circumstances of his death.

Spoiler: The Stomper

So this one isn't as physical as the last one, but still rather spoopy.

One of my best friends lived in an old house with a shitty crawlspace. It was basically nigh impossible to be quiet or stealthy in that house without making loud footsteps or stepping on a creaking floor. Some nights when I was staying over, I'd hear footsteps in the kitchen, like my friend was stomping around in there. It got weird when I looked over and saw him sleeping on the couch while there were still footsteps in the kitchen. The steps would last for a few seconds and stop. I would get up and check it out only to find out nobody was in the kitchen, and there were only two ways into the kitchen: Through the living room or the back door. His mom confirmed the place was indeed haunted, but she had no idea what the story behind the spirit was. At least it wasn't violent. Just annoying.

Backstory about the house:
House I lived in from age 6-12 belonged to my grandma, her dad did black magic around the 40's-60's. he died in his bedroom around the late 70's. House and ranch property was also on top of a old Native American burial ground.
The garage also had a window with a weird imprint, it looked like a witch, none of us children were allowed to touch, they said it contained a witches spirit or evil spirit.

----skip to me actually living there-----
My family all had different experiences.
•My dad said he used to see a woman outside the gate of our property on full moons wearing a white dress. He would sometimes mistake it for my mom.
•My oldest sister lived in a room that had the attics entrance. She would hear footsteps and talking in the attic, she would feel like something was watching her through the window, she's been choked and she's seen what both her and my grandma believed to be our great grandpa walking into the garage.
•My other sister believed she'd heard whispers but not much else.
•My mom never saw much (but she'll be in the story later)

My experiences were more..i guess interactive.

-Once during a full moon, I woke up around 3. I saw a woman in white sitting down inside my room, back against the door and staring at me. It looked just like my mom so I slinked out of bed and sat next to her. She was rubbing my head & I fell back to sleep. A few hours later I wake up still at the door, Now the strange thing is, there's no way it could of been my mother, she wouldn't just leave me at the door and she wouldn't have been able to leave the room with me blocking the door. But as a kid I didn't think much of it.

-The room next door to our bedroom never sat well with me. It was the room my great grandfather died in and where he did his black magic..idk the feeling I got from it was utter despair, Malice..and as if some bloodthirsty predator was on the other side waiting to tear it's prey to shreds the moment it got out. It also had a heavy feeling.
We were forbidden from ever opening it. But not like I had to be told that, I was terrified enough as it was by it.
I've had nightmares, even to this day about what happened in that room. Well it's more like flashbacks that aren't actually mine. I could see my GG holding a black book speaking Spanish as he paces back and forth frantically as the thunder and rain come down heavily. Shadows on the walls even though he was the only one in there. The table shaking and the lights flickering uncontrollably and that's how it always ends.

-another time I slept in my sisters room, woke up with uncontrollable puking. the only time that ever happened.

-my family goes out to the movies and I'm left home, so i decide to play Sonic 3 on PC. my room starts getting cold and I mean really cold. To the point i could see my breath and I was shivering even with a blanket. But once they come back home, the temp returns to normal.

Some typical stuff happened here and there, noises, footsteps etc etc

Dads in the middle east. So just me, mum and sisters.

Around this time, we were always afraid of being left home alone. My sisters always fighting for internet.

The ghost turned it up a notch. One night my sisters were screaming their head off at each other. And i mean really screaming but stop when they hear a bang on the front door.
(they thought it was neighbors or police but no one was at the door)
(I'm currently in my room watching Akira on toonami because whatever)
my sisters go back to fightng and we hear a bang again, but this time it's from both the front door, the patio window and the window from my sisters bedroom. My sisters start freaking out and so does my mom.
Then next thing I know the entire house starts banging. The creepy room, all the windows, the attic, the closets, the laundry room, the kitchen. Lights in living room and kitchen flickering on and off.
All 3 of them run to my moms room
(for some reason it was the safest room)
And I'm just yelling at them "JUST ANSWER THE FUCKING DOOR IM TRYING TO WATCH TV!" and they're just crying and yelling at me to run over there and I just say "FOR FUCKING WHAT??" then realize oh yea. It's because the banging ghost so I grab my Gameboy Color and Pokemon and walk fast to the room, just hearing loud banging. Once we close my moms door. We can still hear it and things being thrown across the living room. But nothing ever touched my moms door. We all slept in their that night, well...hardly sleeping. We all just tried to not bring any negative energy for the time being until we were able to move out around the following year.

So I'm sat with one of my mates, nice cup of tea and a sit down thing going on, and she's telling me about how she's been feeling ill lately but can't find a reason for it. Like, her stomach has a needling pain in it and her throat feels like there's a rock in there, but she's not feeling sick, antacids don't help etc etc. It worries me even more cos she has a young kid, and anyone who's had kids knows that being ill when you have a young kid to look after is hell for both of you.

Then her granddad walks in the room. Not that I'd ever met the guy - apparently he'd been dead for years. And it wasn't as though I saw him, because I didn't see a thing. I just knew he was there. Plain as any other person walking in the room. He sat down next to me and I could feel the warmth from him (people usually say spirits are cold, so this totally threw me).

I'd never experienced anything like this before, but I couldn't say nothing. So, making an apology because I was sure I probably sounded like a total fruit loop, I told my friend her grandad had just walked in the room and was sitting next to me, and if it's weird for you it's weird for me too cos this has never happened before and wtf.

A couple of things happened very quickly. Firstly I didn't hear a voice or anything like that, but I 'knew' he was of a foreign nationality. And worried about his granddaughter. And wanted her to go to the doctors FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING to see about her health issue. So I relayed all of this to my friend, even though I knew nothing about her grandfather or anything other than her being British. Turns out her grandfather is from an eastern European country. And as my friend was telling me this, I had a jabbing pain in my stomach and my throat felt like there was a rock in there...and that lasted until she went home.

Her grandad hung around for a while after, but only a short while. I had no clue what to do in this sort of situation so thanked him for making my friend aware that her health issues really needed to be looked at, and he just kind of faded away soon after. Again, it wasn't like I saw or heard anything, but I could feel it and just knew it, as plain as if anyone else were there...or leaving.

Turns out my friend had a tumour, that thankfully was caught early and dealt with with no after effects. I'm glad my friend is okay, and I'm also kinda glad that nothing like that has happened again, because I don't think I could handle it.

Oh, and when one of my squirtles was little, they described their great-grandmother perfectly, even down to her accent and very unusual hairdo. They'd never seen a photo of her or heard any description because great grandmother had died when I was still a kid. Apparently great-grandmother watched over my kid when they were sleeping. Which was nice to know, I guess, but it freaked me out a bit too.

Well, I don't really remember this because I was a toddler, but my mom does.

One day, my mother was changing my diaper. She told me I wasn't exactly looking at her, but something behind her. So my mom just assumed my dad walked by. When she was done, she saw my dad sitting outside. She asked him if he was just inside and he said he wasn't. My mom doesn't think much of it at the time.

Eventually, as the days go by and I keep looking at nothing, my mom finally asks me. "Sweetie, what are you staring at?" and I said "PawPaw" (a name for grandpa).

My grandpa died long before I was born. Without going into too much detail, his death really split apart the family on my mom's side. So my mom had never shown me any pictures of my grandpa or even taught me the word PawPaw. Which as you can tell, freaked her out.

My grandma and mother tell me quite a bit of stories of seeing spirits to the point I've wished I could as well (because what if it could run in the family and shit, my cousins could see them after all). I might've gotten that wish for a brief moment for all I know, but it's something I think about sometimes.

So I stayed with my grandparents during college since they were closest to the school. Around March of 2011, I believe, I had an orthodontist appointment to get my braces off and the gift bag included a balloon, and I fucking love balloons, they're just happy objects, I swear. Anyway so a few hours later I'm just in my bedroom dicking around on my laptop, it's dinnertime, just ate or something. For a quick briefing on what the back room looked like, it's not all that big, only fit a few pieces of furniture since the bed took up a lot of room under the window, and my desk directly across the way from the door, which if you didn't pay attention walking in you could bump your shin/toes against the bedpost or trip over my shoes where they sat at the foot. The balloon was closest to the farthest corner from where I sat at my desk, just floating near the bed by the alarm clock where I had left it.

Anyway, I noticed it through the screen reflection as the balloon floated to the door--okay, probably was the floor air vent that's right next to it, pretty sure the air had kicked on. Then it came my way. It didn't take the obvious shortcut of floating over the bed toward me, it was in an L-shaped path. It was weird, but I walked around the bedpost to put it back and then sat back down. Few minutes later, it came back, same path. I figured it was just the helium running out, but I was just a bit confused as to why it was doing that, if it was because of the air current or static electricity or what, so I just took it and walked around the house a little bit with it, then upon returning to my bedroom, I put it back near the bed and sat back at my desk, and it didn't move the rest of the night.

I went to bed at about ten or so, just the usual weekday night. Portable fan's on, balloon is over by the desk, door's propped open by the ancient Christmas three flavors popcorn bin, grandparents are still up in the living room watching the news and so the hallway's still lit up, but I'm not all that bothered by light. I wear glasses because I'm blind as fuck without them, and they're going to be cold in the morning from the blowing air, as usual. So I lay on my right side and just close my eyes to fall asleep. For some reason, a few minutes later or so, I open my eyes just because and for a split second I swear I saw a translucent little girl turn heel and run for the open door. It was the weirdest thing, and I just stared at the door trying to make sense of it until I fall asleep.

When I told my grandmother the next day, she just smiled and theorized "Someone must've wandered from their caretaker."

For a little bit more "oomph", both my grandmother and mother believe the house sits on some kind of spiritual highway of sorts, or at least my grandparents' room does, because they tended to see spirits come-and-go from there. Mom from when she was a teenager up until she got married shared a room with her sister (there's a separate story involving her old cat staring and hissing into the room for upwards to an hour until her uncle came over to check it out and saw a spirit sitting on her sister's bed taking his sweet-ass time to leave), and her bed was where the piano currently sits in this weird cut-out section in my grandparents' room. The back room was added on like in the 80s or 90s, just next door to the bathroom and a small closet. So this little girl went "off-path" just to end up at my bedside if that indeed was what happened, if my imagination wasn't deciding to play tricks on me just for wondering about the balloon.
