Supernatural is a show that won't fucking die, having run on the CW for approximately three hundred years. The show follows two brothers around as they fight monsters and demons or something in their gay car and listen to nothing but 'Carry On My Wayward Son' on repeat.

To the surprise of no one, Supernatural is a cesspool of terrible, terrible, terrible fans. The most vocal part of the fandom are those who ship Castiel/Dean (I guess an Angel and one one of the brothers) and those who ship 'Wincest'. Given that the fans of the show are mostly women who need their yaoi fix, people at conventions have been known to try and get the actors to answer questions about their gay ships.

The actors have banned questions regarding gay sex at conventions, which has triggered many people and rustled many jimmies. Either way, fans continue to ask the actors about it at conventions despite them telling the dumb girls to quit it:

The main 'ship' split of Destiel and Wincest constantly in-fight with each other and have slap-fights over whose ship is grosser, which means there are entire watch-dog communities that get into fights constantly.

Finally, the Supernatural fandom is full of people who fake suicides/self harm/etc for attention and follower counts. #affectedbyhate was a tag in early 2015 which came about after a Supernatural blogger allegedly killed themselves three-four times, obviously escaping from hospitals and shit in between that. During the time of pseuicides, the Supernatural fandom believed that 4chan was planning raids v omegle. In 2015. This is a real fucking thing that happened.

In short, the Supernatural fandom is a wealth of hilarity and butthurt that cannot be rivaled.

Sorry that J2’s marriages look like a sham and I pick up a strong gay vibe between them. I’m a horrible, absolutely detestable human being. I mean really. I’m tired of being shamed because I have this feeling that something is going on there.
I love the show (more so when Eric Kripke was there but I think that goes for most of us) and I love J2 (I don’t flail and idolize them because that’s reserved for my goddess) and I respect them too. But Jesus Christ, I am not a shitty fan or being disrespectful to them by thinking this way.

Oh , this just gave me a heavy dosage of nostalgia. I remember when this blew the fuck up all over Tumblr a couple of years back. Unfortunately, the original post has been deleted; fortunately, it's been archived. This post truly is the epitome of entitlement and everything that's wrong with fangirls fandom as a whole. Although, to be fair, a ton of people were calling this brat out on her entitlement issues; after a certain point, I remember most of the reblogs being rebuttals. And believe me, there's a lot to rebut.

And, again, this was all because Jensen Ackles didn't want to answer (and even seemed uncomfortable about answering) questions about his character's sexuality. Because not wanting to talk about how gay/bi the character you're portraying is with a bunch of teenage fangirls totally means you hate gay people.

Ah, and now we come to the cornerstone of what makes up entitled Tumblrina shipping: Queerbaiting. For those who don't know, "queerbaiting" is an accusation that creators purposely inject homoerotic subtext into a work without the intention of actually making that queerness "canon." In other words, they're "teasing" LGBT people by hinting at a queer relationship but never actually fulfilling it.

The biggest problem with this concept is how incredibly subjective the undertones are. Shippers (not just gay shippers, but with every kind of shipping) have a bad habit of interpreting literally fucking everything that happens between characters as a sign of romantic interest. For example, Alice smiling at Bob and Bob smiling back will be held up as "proof" that Alice and Bob are in love but won't admit it yet. Or Alice telling Cecilia how much she treasures their friendship and Cecilia being moved by her speech is held up as solid evidence that Alice and Cecilia belong together. Now, that's not to say that these things can't be interpreted romantically, but they can damn well be interpreted as signs platonic affection (to most diehard shippers, platonic love doesn't seem to exist).

So you can basically twist anything into "queerbaiting" if you're so inclined. That's why it's a useless term. And again, it gives off a really bad air of entitlement; that last sentence sure as hell does. Nobody owes you anything.

I recall when I was a wee internet bab that somebody posted a link in a 'fandumb horrors' thread on another site like Portal of Evil about how batshit insane the fans have gotten with this show (circa 2005 I think?) One of those links was to some craackpot fan's Livejournal page that showcased nothing but photomanips of Jensen and Ackles having the sexy times as Dean and Sam. That wasn't the horror - the true reason why it was posted is that about 80% of these manips were of them rectally disemboweling each other and shoving their innards through a meat grinder.

That image has stayed with me for a decade. Wish I remembered the link so I could spread the horror.

EDIT: I missed the post but think it might have been Mythagowood as listed earlier? My god that brings back a lot of nightmares, but I am not wholly sure. I have to dive in head first to find that infamous picture again. I think that person also had a few copycat artists as well.
