So TL:biggrin:R version; what did he do to tank that line?

* The unchecked ego and lack of editorial discipline that led him to insist Mage needed to be four massive core books when the other 20th anniversary lines managed to do complete games in single volumes.

* The cringe progressivism (neopronouns, the prominence of a whole new faction that skewed the four pointed arrangement of the classic game just because the Disparates offer more "representation" - and because Brucato was on record as not liking the base Traditions, actually making "Activist" a personality archetype).

* The incredibly sloppy layout and unprofessional, weirdly hostile tone of the writing even in non-sidebar pieces.

To be fair, I think you can use the new magic rules and strip out 90% of the new lore and have a good 90s-era Mage game, or, better, a very good Sorcerer's Crusade game, but there's just so much cruft that I could never justify the enormous expense.

This game had a reputation of being very poorly repressed, because the style and aesthetic went a mile in the direction that the premise took a foot towards, yet it still tried to hide the journey that the target audience was expected to take. Then their kickstarter promised a miniature series, and it didn't throw the mask off, it turned the mask into starship fuel so they could finally take an astronomical unit onward.

Returning to this one for a little: the dividing line is not necessarily theater vs. math. Another, maybe even more important one is old AD&D's kind of fantasy, which is focused on action and having adventures where you do a lot of things; and new D&D's kind of fantasy, which is about exploring personalities and setting intricacies, as well as building complicated snowflake characters (math nerds love that stuff, too).

There is enormous difference between "Fred the human Fighter", whose game career has consisted of him looting a series of treasure filled holes and establishing his own barony, and "Ald'you'yll' the dragonborn Blood Hunter", who goes from DM plot to DM plot while fulfilling a prewritten epic destiny in his four page backstory. The first kind of game uses stock characters who may as well be cardboard cutouts (mostly "me, with a battleaxe"), but often has these characters actually doing a whole lot more than the latter kind of game. In really old AD&D, you got most of your levels from plundering treasure. In new editions, it is killing monsters and passing story milestones. That's a whole different ballgame.
This is the difference between vintage fantasy and modern fantasy too. In old school fantasy you had talented "everymen" (just assume Conan can be considered one) in small adventures. Hell, even Epics like Lord of the Rings had some hobbits skulking around Mordor.
Modern fantasy is more about the unique characters and their relationships, from GoT to Harry Potter to your basic YA fantasy novel or Grimdark epic.

Brah they're not even hiding their zoophilia with those minis. I'm surprised they weren't kicked off their funding platform. Most of them don't take kindly to pornography of any type.

Phil didn't write those sections; it was one of the other guys, and I think they were the only non-crony he had in the group since they tried to make the hummingbirds interesting and not filled with cum and badly designed stats. Phil NEVER touched War Against the Pure, he was only tapped to write by Onyx Path Changing Breeds.

Actually, the more I read Phil's work, the more I honestly believe that he isn't that good and White Wolf was smart in firing him for being too nutty. Seriously, they made like a wanted poster that described him as a lunatic at one point, and I don't blame them. I mean hey, maybe if I reread his contributions to Mage I'll remember why he was hired, but they never should let him write anything involving werewolves.

Changing Breeds wasn't Onyx Path. That was still CCP run/owned White Wolf at the time. Onyx Path has more or less memory holed Changing Breeds AFAIK

As someone who fielded an Ostland army back in the day (well, Ostland plus Knights of Moor), I approve. Remember Praag.

  • The setting should lean away from simple notions of good and evil.
  • The setting should avoid the problematic themes of earlier editions of Ravenloft, embrace the richness of diversity, and incorporate safety tools to protect everybody's fun
*sigh* Once again, talking to your GM before the game is an alien concept to these fucks...

So saw this one out the corner of my eye while working through the joys of the internet. For the summary the person claims to have joined a Roll20 campaign, people turned their cameras on and immediately decided to kick them because they were black (some stuff ommitted for brevity).

Naturally the main comments are all completely taking it at face value, swarm of remarks how this is totally believable and really happened but in among them are the sceptics. Then people start commenting on OPs post history.

So they then post another thread doubling down on everything but this time round the audience is less receptive. After the pinned mod post this is the first comment analysing the poster's history

I’m a full time student pursuing dual degrees in computer science and computer engineering while also minoring in chemistry, physics and biology. ( I have an associates degree in biology ).
OP 6 days ago

I have multiple degrees, a career that pays 6 figures, I'm starting my own business so I can make money for myself, not someone else.
OP 17 days ago

Edit:

I'm 24, living in the US and I'm a a full time student that's dual majoring in computer science and computer engineering and triple minoring in biology, chemistry and physics.

I'm 24 years old, 6 feet 10 inches tall, athletic, well educated, a leader and in a field where I make 150k a year
4 months ago

Edit 2:

He's a bodybuilder/powerlifter who can barely stand for five minutes because of pain due to severe scoliosis.

Edit 3:

He's also a machine learning engineer who didn't take a semester off for six years and got an associates in biology.

Ok, I think I'm done.
And slightly further down is this.

Ooh, you missed one - apparently he's been a successful dom for seven years, but he's still a virgin.
OP's story is so full of holes I could sell it as high-quality swiss cheese

Seven year dom experience

Somehow still a virgin despite that (the main post was deleted, how about that)
The mod comment naturally goes with the "it doesn't matter if it's true or not because it started a conversation."

Maybe it's not as bad as those shitpost minis show, here's the advertised use case:

No, this is still both hornier and more animalistic than the illustrations. (is that ugly polyhedron supposed to be a chainsaw or a railgun?)

It doesn't matter, because these cunts clearly are furries who like terrible terrible Chakats, a magical realm Star Trek fanfic race and decided to try and bring it back from the hell it was thrown into. Burn them all.

I wouldn't exactly describe them as that, HSD is cultivated of a fundamentally different set of trends than the Star Trek inspired Chakats.

Suffer.
Not.
The Furry.
To Live.

Why is this so hard? If we'd actually stuck with this line we never would have otherkin, and thus never AGP trannies.
