I tried reading it about five years back. It’s awful, probably not as bad as Black Tokyo only because Black Tokyo has more material.

27 for Otherverse America https://rpggeek.com/rpgsetting/7995/otherverse-america compared to 31 for Black Tokyo https://rpggeek.com/rpgsetting/22761/black-tokyo so actually close in term of that
Oh and and i continued ready this https://rpggeek.com/rpgsetting/7995/otherverse-america to get to the antagonist faction and i have made a decision: I won't this, I reviewed multiple Black Tokyo books and this is broke me

I was buying a reprint of an old Ravenloft supplement (When Black Roses Bloom) at DriveThruRPG and noticed that there was a content warning on the page about how some of the stuff may be offensive (given how it was made years ago) and how the site doesn't stand for that stuff. I'm glad they're still publishing this stuff, but the warning is pretty much on all the old D&D stuff.

Its on 100% of all WotC shit, I think even on 5e.
Its the Woopie Goldberg talking about Mammie before Tom & Jerry.

Honestly? Fine by me. I don't have to read the content warning, and it's better than going in and editing the book.

I'm glad they did that. Makes the orginal books without them worth more.

So it seems TSR first game will be Giantlands, which will be more like gamma world. I wanted to check their site but it is not working properly on my end, have they released any information about the system? Really intrigued by this.

I got chu fam. Here's the store description.
Spoiler: Very little detail, presumably d20 but not sure Percentile Dice, per Kickstarter. Gamma World comparison seems pretty apt. Looks like post-cataclysm technobarbarism Guns and Sorcery from what I see. This is a post-kickstarter, so presumably there should be some chatter from the kickstarter backers to be found. The site as about that perfect level of jank you'd want from someone trying to bring TSR back.

They want to build a LARP theme park? Is this something Gary wanted to do, or is this junior taking a shot at becoming Walt Disney?

I was debating tossing $80 to welcome TSR back (even before I saw the trannies getting vapors) and see if the game was any good, but with a little more digging I've opted to pass on a preorder. I'll wait and see if other folks think this is any good.

tl;dr Static damage weapons, seems like there will be lots of table look up... it could still be good, just don't feel the need to spend most of a c-note to find out, but interest in finding out mainly killed by the setting.

tl;dr on the setting, in the very near future Evil Capitalists finally hurt Earth Mother Gaia enough she wakes up and purges humanity with a rain of comets that also reawaken the Giants. Characters will be trying to heal the earth to gain fabulous powers, while also trying to fight the giants or something.
Also the GM is called the Spirit Keeper and there is an official Spirit Keeper mask (in the kickstarter) that is a rip off of a plague doctor. (Like that staff wielding thing on the cover art is wearing)

Well, at least that should harken back to the early days of D&D. If I could find my old AD&D books I'd post some photos of all the tables you needed to consult in that game.

Remember, kids: the 80s and 90s were rife with environmental stories! Captain Planet didn't pop out of a vacuum, after all. If you're going for the retro style, you're also getting the retro stories.

Still, these stories tended to be more earnest and less deconstruction-, guilt- and sarcasm-happy than modern takes. So I'd like to see at least how their introductory adventure goes.

And this goes right back to my previous post: these guys need a reality check before they cringe their way into bankruptcy. I suppose "dungeon master" would result in a lolsuit from WotC, but what's wrong with "game master"?

Tables aren't a deal killer, but table consultation is a strike against it. I know nothing about the system, I'm not saying its garbage since I haven't read anything about it, but I'm also not going to spend $80 to find out when there's many troubling signs.

Its a fairly interesting quest mechanic - fixing the previous society's environmental disasters, since the damage could manifest in a bunch of ways and give multiple ways for you deal with it that don't necessarily require violence. I guess I just have zero faith in anyone in CURRENT YEAR doing it properly.
Like I said, it might be perfectly fine, but there's enough concerning factors I'm not going to preorder.

Basic setting instantly turned me off to this.

I didn't like that sort of shit with Werewolf the Apocalypse, and I don't like it now since it always comes off as preachy bullshit from hypocrites.

Shame, since sword and sorcery with superscience is a fun setting, but the hippy bullshit kills most of the interest I have.
