Basic setting instantly turned me off to this [ ... ] since it always comes off as preachy bullshit from hypocrites.
Shame, since sword and sorcery with superscience is a fun setting, but the hippy bullshit kills most of the interest I have.

I'm usually very iffy on Magic-meets-Superscience - its very fun when done right, but very rarely is it done right.

I like the possibilities of their quest mechanic; it sounds like you have the option of picking up litter until the fell creature stalking the woods is put back to sleep by Gaia or just killing it. I am always for things that give you multiple ways to advance. But like you, this reaks of hypocritical hippie bullshit.

While I welcome being proved wrong, I'm not going to sign up and pay for the privilege of finding out.

And here I was hoping it would be a Rifts that wouldn't overload a room full of autists with how autistic the rules are. Instead we get... hippies. To quote one Eric Cartman, "Goddamn hippies!"

Let's not count the ugly chickens before they hatch. We only have the basic premise, but if these guys are true to their roots there will be plenty of hack-and-slashing. Or, stab-and-shooting, I suppose. If there are also alternative ways to solve a problem, fine by me.

I'm not going to be preordering it, for sure, but I'm not writing it off just yet.

Who knew TSR actually stood for Tranny Slaying Republicans?

There's a few major examples of it working, at least in premise.

Dino Riders
Masters of The Universe
Xenozoic Tales
Might and Magic

Does anyone actually play Rifts? Somebody is obviously buying the books, but I've never heard even the edgiest weirdos talking about it
Don't you be badmouthing Rifts.

You can put together fucking AWESOME campaigns if you and your group sit down and put together some base rules.

Just remind them of Rule Alpha: The GM will win any arms race.

So in breaking news: Gen Con has now banned TSR from ever attending or holding a booth in the future.

It's sad to see how political Gen Con has become. It's actively now gatekeeping the hobby and saying only progressive LGBT activism approved companies are allowed.View attachment 2299086

I took a step into hell to look at a Twitter thread pertaining to this. Shocking that the Community Manager for Gencon is trans. Absolutely shocking.

The hypocrisy in gatekeeping a hobby they have strong armed their way into "controlling" is astounding.

TBF not that I had any plans to attend Gen Con before, man now I really never will.
TSR's absolutely milquetoast "We are making fantasy games and will not release statements about real world politics" is going to be a nice measuring stick to see who I'm going to be avoiding the future (at least until they bend the knee to the Trannies). I have a feeling WotC is going to go back on my personal boycott list shortly.

Now that I think about it, the reason people are rebelling against these "diversity" types (IMHO) is how it feels like a chore.
And it is a chore, it's meaningless box-ticking.

"Timmy, did you add a black character? Did you add a lesbian? Oh, did you remember your sweater? And did you remember to add an Arabic post-op transgender disabled half-fish on a wheelchair? You did? Wonderful! Move along now, or you'll be late for school!"

You can. Its just that the overall Palladium ruleset is, like I said before, so autistic even a roomful of autists will have trouble slogging through it. Its relatively simple once you get playing but character creation is an absolute bitch. I tried making a character for a Heroes Unlimited game and dear god was that painful.
