I found this particularly interesting site rummaging through a tumblr page. At first I thought the person was just joking about these two but once I started doing some digging I realized that these fuckers are pretentious and obnoxious as fuck; say hello to Michael Samyn and Auriea, the 'partners' of Tale of Tales.
Of course they're game developers with so many fresh and wondrous ideas it'd be a pity not to delve deep into their back log of super popular games that tend to get great reviews from big names and then fall short with actual fans.
Metacritic reviews for Sunset, the game that got them to quit (more on that later).
Now you're wondering why I find the two so abrasive, right? If you checked out the reviews it's already apparent that they think little of the gaming community and instead focus more in the 'artistic' approach to gaming; something that can be done correctly, of course, but not something that can carry a game for long if there's nothing else to go with great visuals.
No, these two twat waffles caught my eye because of their asinine dual Patreon pages; that's right, each of them have a Patreon page asking for outrageous sums of money.
twat1.png

Link to his Patreon, read up, you'll feel his pain.
twat2.png

And the link to her Patreon, they're so supportive of one another!

"So MD", as all you cool fuckers like to call me, "how are these shitstains any different from the usual welfare hippies I'm used to seeing?" I'm glad you asked that, massive hivemind amalgamation. While most Patreon folk generally like to just beg or produce to get the mad skrilla these two game up making games; now they want you to fund them while they try and 'redesign' themselves into all encompassing art group. That sure sounds awesome, right? Until you see that they want that money to 'fund' themselves and of course take inspirational vacations so they can get super cool ideas! It's only gonna cost three grand a month! Well, just for Auriea page. Micheal wants six grand so he can afford to corroborate with other artists...what a goddamn awesome deal, right?

Now why would these two successful lovebirds need help from the community to help fund their endeavors? Maybe because they treat their fans like filth? Perhaps because they like the idea of not having to actually work and still make money? Perchance they see other game developers make it work and decided twelve grand in total is what it takes to get your ass in gear? Stop sitting here and starting doling out your hard earned cash or else you won't be able to enjoy games like this ever again;
Haha, did I say make more games? Oh hell no, shitty gamers ruined games for them. Now they want you to fund ideas; as in pay us to sit around and be creative and we'll show you what we come up with...maybe a game, maybe a piece of art...or maybe just sit at home and fuck around on twitter all day! but we can do it because of you!

I think no thread about these tards is complete without their hilarious meltdown.

View attachment 52886

Have they done anything lately?

They seem to have kind of burned their bridges.
Their meltdown on Twitter is what would bring them the most attention. Before that, no one would know who they were. With their company name, one would thought it would be related to Namco's "Tales of "series.

As for what they made, this video from Bro Pill Team can sum up a bit of their game, Sunset.

One thing to note, I think @Jaimas or another Kiwi mentioned they made some previous games, one being some game where a bunch of girls are raped and killed, another just being a game where an old woman sits on some park bench and is waiting to die or something.

Don't forget the one where you play as magic deer and do jack shit except wander around.

Or the one where you wander around, then get raped and murdered.

Really.

That's the whole game.

This brief snippet of this scathing review more or less captures the flavor of the thing:

This is easily the worst game I have ever played and it saddens me to write the following sentence: “If you really want a rape sim, there are better games out there for you to experience.”

Oh shit ae these the people who made Grandma Simulator 20XX or am I crazy?
Also I watched a Lets Play of The Path and gosh golly is there a lot of little girl heavily implied rape and it's barely a game, the only thing that makes it kind of a game is that you control the characters on the screen. Now see, last I checked games were supposed to be fun.
EDIT: Oh shit dude, they did make Grandma Simulator, which the Game Grumps played and they were thoroughly confused (or at least Dan was)
Now keep in mind apparently the difference between the paid and free versions of Grandma Simulator is that in the paid version there is a small chance the Grandma will randomly die

Wait. I know these guys, back in 2005 they had some sort of weird screensaver where it became a forest filled with other characters who were human-headed deer. No one talked (deliberate, there was no chat system other than emotes and gyphs for names). It was overall creepy thinking about it, but was genuinely boring and tedious with no good qualities in it's community. I remember being on their boards back around there and their admins had an impenetrable circlejerk of pretentious teenagers who wanted to be moderators or blessed or something so they could do events in the game (Staff could summon rare powers, pelts and the like.) There was also a sense of elitism with people who got their kicks by claiming that they had custom skins for their characters and going on about how they SERIOUSLY wanted a chat system to roleplay in (read: tell everyone how cool they were). Some got really mad if you used the same glyph (a symbol which hung on their head) as them and often told you to remake your account foaming "THATS MY GLYPH!" at you and swearing to get you banned.

In the end I sort of veered away when I learned that most of the people there were really pretentious artists.

I mean.
They did a survey and learned that 1 out of five people joined because of fan art, so you know that isn't good.

I might of seen that one, one guy and a woman? Apparently after they played the game they broke up and no longer are playing together and aren't on speaking terms: apparently that was their last game together playing, so obviously it was so boring they decided to split up. The Path was really buggy and boring - not really a thriller in its sense and I got really pissed off at it because there was literally no endgame or reason to play the game.

As you can see their websites haven't been undated since early 2000s, their artist friend, Lina Kusaite, actually has a more sufficient website design so that shows how much they update and care.

Oh! That deer game is the one that a bunch of people from SA trolled one time. I think.

I tried to look up some info on the trolling but I can't find much. I did find the game's name though: The Endless Forest. And, as far as I can tell, it's still playable in a 2.0 version?

Every game they made was supposed to be some artsy/revolutionary world changing concept; instead they managed to give the impression that they paid a lot of people off to give positive reviews. Here's the MetaCritic page for all their game reviews.

The Path has the highest fucking score and that's the rape simulator.

Regarding Sunset:
Look guys, it's 2015. Just having a black lead character isn't a bold statement about race any more, you need a bit more than that.
Especially since you have other games with black lead character that are varying levels of fun. At best (based off what I seen), Sunset looks like a poor mans Viscera Cleanup that railroads you into doing exactly whats on the to do list while putting some sort of commentary. At worst, it's just a pretentious game that is attempting to try and be artistic.

Yes, it got goonrushed.

Having a black lead character probably stopped being "innovative" maybe 10 or 20 years after this.

It has been over 47 years since Night of the Living Dead.

But yet these clowns think a cleaning lady simulator is groundbreaking. Oh and there's books in the white guy's apartment.

I think Brote summed it up with the closing line: "This shit's so pretentious, it just gave me a fuckin film school degree."

I was actually really interested in Endless Forest as a concept, but I never played it. The fact that it doesn't have a chat system and yet is an MMO thing is pants on head retarded.

Also the Lets Play I watched was just one dude and he was talking like a kid's show narrator from hell and he was taking it dead seriously and it was really weird and unsettling just because of the dude talking.

The Path is a game that encourages exploration, but exploration ultimately gets you raped. The game chastises you for staying on the path and ultimately it doesn't mean anything important. I'm not saying that games can't be art or an experience, but my reaction to the kind of indie art games they make is basically

I didn't know that they were lolcows, though. I just thought they were your average hipster artist wannabes.
