Maybe i was wrong then, I didn't know there was hemorrhaging involved and other people have mentioned that doulas won't stay unless labor is happening so it does seem more likely that there was a sign something was wrong. and yes the filming of everything really is kind of disgusting. In the video where the father tells the story, I believe that he is really hurt by what happened, so I don't know why they didn't take better precautions. Maybe they're stupid. idk...I'm pretty sure there's no way she didn't know that something was very seriously wrong. Placental abruption causes hemorrhage. There would have been a lot of blood. Any normal person would seek medical attention immediately, even if they weren't sure if they were in labor. Plus, for it to have happened after 24+ hours of nonproductive labor indicates that the mother and the doula both had to have SOME inkling that things were already not going right.
It's nice of you to absolve the mom in this situation, I guess, but I don't think she deserves it. There is zero chance she didn't know something was amiss, but she wanted that home birth more than she cared about a healthy baby. Yes, most of the time, a profoundly disabled child isn't anyone's fault. Severe birth injury can happen even in a hospital, and even in a hospital setting, placental abruption is an extreme medical emergency for both mother and fetus. This woman, however, chose to stay home for hours, and now her kid is paying for it.
Robyn Grogitsky-Ramirez, aka "The Empathic Nutritionist", is similar. She put her own desires and ego first, had a home birth that went bad, and now her daughter Luna is full potato and going to die. At least the end to her suffering is in sight; poor Hudsyn has been existing in agony for YEARS. I don't know how any parent can listen to a child scream like she does and think, "oh yeah, better get the camera lolz!"
