...I'm pretty sure there's no way she didn't know that something was very seriously wrong. Placental abruption causes hemorrhage. There would have been a lot of blood. Any normal person would seek medical attention immediately, even if they weren't sure if they were in labor. Plus, for it to have happened after 24+ hours of nonproductive labor indicates that the mother and the doula both had to have SOME inkling that things were already not going right.

It's nice of you to absolve the mom in this situation, I guess, but I don't think she deserves it. There is zero chance she didn't know something was amiss, but she wanted that home birth more than she cared about a healthy baby. Yes, most of the time, a profoundly disabled child isn't anyone's fault. Severe birth injury can happen even in a hospital, and even in a hospital setting, placental abruption is an extreme medical emergency for both mother and fetus. This woman, however, chose to stay home for hours, and now her kid is paying for it.

Robyn Grogitsky-Ramirez, aka "The Empathic Nutritionist", is similar. She put her own desires and ego first, had a home birth that went bad, and now her daughter Luna is full potato and going to die. At least the end to her suffering is in sight; poor Hudsyn has been existing in agony for YEARS. I don't know how any parent can listen to a child scream like she does and think, "oh yeah, better get the camera lolz!"
Maybe i was wrong then, I didn't know there was hemorrhaging involved and other people have mentioned that doulas won't stay unless labor is happening so it does seem more likely that there was a sign something was wrong. and yes the filming of everything really is kind of disgusting. In the video where the father tells the story, I believe that he is really hurt by what happened, so I don't know why they didn't take better precautions. Maybe they're stupid. idk

Considering they named the poor sprog "Hudsyn", among the myriad other evidence, I'd say you're probably on the right track.

I’d assume this is because it was a home birth situation that went bad but he doesn’t want blowback on the issue. Hospitals usually notice placental abruptions fast unless there’s some real negligence afoot. Usually the fetal heartbeat shows distress and that’s the first red flag, then the physical exam finding the blood.
Tard babies end up incredibly expensive if they end up the kind of potato on this thread where they're pretty much dead and require millions of dollars of utterly wasted heroic care to delay their inevitable deaths. Any hospital with any sense taking in one of these permanently ruined incompatible with life potatoes obviously should immediately begin collecting records showing the insane tard woo mom who caused their kid to become a potato, or a worse potato, is actually responsible for those results.

I wrote about Dan Seitz in this thread a few months ago. He's a youtube vlogger with a 10 year old daughter named Hudsyn, who sustained catastrophic brain damage when she was born because his wife Casey suffered a placental abruption during labor. It's likely that the damage was exacerbated because he and his wife chose a home birth and Casey labored at home for around 24 hours before going to the hospital. This delayed detection of the abruption and caused Hudsyn to be deprived of oxygen for an extended period of time.
In this video, Dan films Hudsyn while she has a water or "swim therapy" session. Although he titled the video "Water Therapy" he does refer to it as swim therapy through out the video and has used that term in the past. While swim therapy normally what it's called, poor Hudsyn is so damaged that she cannot move a muscle on her own and so nothing resembling "swimming" is actually happens . The therapist just holds the Hudsyn in the water while moving her limbs and changing her positions.

While swim therapy can often be helpful for building muscle and allowing injured and brain damaged people to regain some mobility, because Hudsyn hardly moves, it's likely that the therapy does her little to no good at all. At best it might provide some minor, temporary physical relief if she is in pain from high muscle tone and that is only a maybe.

I tried to start the video at the beginning of the therapy session but it looks like it's just starting from the beginning of the video, so if you dont want to see Dan talking and driving for 7 minutes, just skip to 7:01 in the video.

I just can't....that horrible screaming.......I'd yeeted myself off a pier by now.

As @Allo Vera mentioned there are rare silent abruptions where the blood gets trapped in the uterus. I got the idea this might have been the case here since he made it sound like the first appearance of blood was during the initial hospital admission physical exam. If that had been the start of the abruption the baby probably would have been fine, because they took her immediately to the OR, but it obviously wasn’t.

The father makes it sound like they weren’t overly concerned heading to the hospital but they sure as hell would have been freaking out if she was hemorrhaging everywhere.

I guess I was counting on her being intelligent enough to get that being in labor for 24 hours without progressing is an indication that all is not well. I think I was giving her too much credit.

The girl looks a lot like the hooligans in some way. These stories are why I'd never do home birth. Birth is risky enough at the hospital.

The spuds will never have to deal with peers, or find jobs or anything else. Why not go balls to the wall with names? I mean, your spud is only going to be around a few years, why not call it Dingleberry Unicorn Horatio-Sans.

I guess it's like Sammie Bushart's imaginary fetuses, it's not like it's a real kid so might as well go nuts.

Plus the type of people who carry spuds to term instead of aborting are often the type not known for not giving kids pants-shittingly retarded names.

Apologies for the doublepost, but time for an update on holoprosencephaly spud fetus Molly Mae

Think of it like naming a pet.
I wouldn't give a pet some of the names I've seen fundies give spuds, and one of my spiders is named #nastybitch
Yeah this is kinda a situation where kids dont need to see a horribly disfigured dying baby... the ultrasound photo is enough. Yikes very sad.
Older kids that have the age and maturity to understand the situation I dont see why not, but I don't see the point in little kids that probably wouldn't understand or remember. And putting rotting dead baby pics publically on the internet yeah nah can't say I see that as the best choice.

Brain damage and underdevelopment can cause similar physical traits in affected individuals even if the conditions themselves are very different. This can be especially true if the damage occurs while the person is young and still growing. Even though Hudsyn didn't have any genetic abnormalities, the loss of brain tissue during early infancy caused her skull to not grow to the size it normally would have, so she has microcephaly like the Hartley sisters, although although her cranium isn't nearly as underdeveloped as theirs were. She also has high muscle tone like they did, giving her limbs a gnarled, twisted look similar to theirs. Ive seen other brain damaged kids who look like Hudsyn. Makayla, the little girl with Lissincephally(smooth brain), who was featured on her parents' Youtube channel "Our Lives, Our Reasons, Our Sanity, until she passed away last year, also bore a bit of a resemblance.

I'm intrigued by the fact that although this fetus was diagnosed with alobar holoprosencephaly, which is the most severe and deadly kind of holoprosencephaly(HPE) her facial features look like someone with the semi lobar type. Although both terms refer to brain and not facial development, the facial features usually develop inline with the brain. So that when a fetus has alobar holoprosencephaly they tend to look like cyclops babies. They usually lack noses and instead might have a stalk of hanging flesh protruding from their foreheads. Semi lobar HPE fetuses will usually have two eyes set very close together, a broad, flat nose and some kind of cleft lip and palette, which is what I'm seeing here. Mathew Nel has semi lobar HPE and this girl appears to look a lot like him. So I'm wondering if she actually does have alobar HPE or if she is suffering from semi lobar HPE. Both are horrible conditions, the difference is that alobar fetuses usually always die before or shortly after birth, while semi lobar babies can also die in utero or not long after being born, in some cases, with extreme medical intervention, they can potentially survive for years. Notice I said "survive" and not 'live" because any kind of quality of life for these kids is usually nil, but they can be kept breathing, blinking, twitching etc. If this girl does have semi lobar HPE and she manages to survive birth, two things you know are going to happen. One, her mother is going to make sure the girl is kept alive as long as possible and will demand every expensive medical treatment she can get and two, she's going to spend the rest of that kid's sad, painful life exclaiming to the world about what a "MIRACLE!!!" her child turned out to be.

I hope not but the mom is fundie enough to not abort that, so she might be fundie enough to demand extraordinary care. She does have at least 4 non-potato kids though, so hopefully she at least has the sense to put them and their needs above the spud. Or nature forces her hand and the spud goes to the great tater patch in the sky before she gets the chance to do what Matthew's parents did.

That said, fundies do have a way of choosing to do the most fucked up thing possible, especially when it comes to kids.
