The woman in that video is terrible, she keeps tripping over her words. I'm surprised though that @withoutacrystalball actually has a semi original story and not one that she just ripped off of here. Her name should be @withoutgivingcredit.
Holy shit. James liquidated the Halo Beauty bank account on the eve of this lawsuit being filed in order to devalue the company and render it worthless.
Interesting timing. UCLA is starting clinical trials of Halo's kiwi pills in November. It's a small study but could be a decent blow to the company if they can't get that "clinically proven" tag.

If this is true he is in big trouble. How could any lawyer have approved this (they didn’t)? Anyways, if this is true this could bankrupt Tati and James (they’d be liable for punitive damages).
In my professional opinion, anyone can allege anything in a complaint (as we see with the many inane complaints leveled against our dear errverrlord). I’ll be interested to see what the plaintiff can prove and whether or not they’ll settle (this will probably happen - they will settle for an undisclosed amount on undisclosed terms).
The stories about James are really specific so I’ll believe those. He’s so shady. As for the nature of the contract and the facts of the case, that’s up for the court to decide...

Same, man. I always considered her to be low key and fairly drama free. But it was pretty suspicious of her being involved with a guy that has such a shady background.

I haven’t watched that particular video but the summary of the situation is that Tati and James actually had a business partner (who I guess was also a friend) who they split Halo Beauty 50/50 with. However, according to the business partner (the plaintiff who filed the complaint), Tati and James came to him with a proposal to split it 75/25 (75 for the Westbrooks and 25 for the business partner) under the condition that Tati release any future beauty or skincare products under the Halo brand. They convinced the plaintiff that if Halo went in this direction, a company like Estée Lauder or Coty would buy it from them for billions of dollars (literally).
Of course, Tati released her Tati Beauty eyeshadow palette (which got good reviews on YouTube) in fall 2019 (about a year ago exactly), which was not under the Halo Beauty brand (and I don’t think it was in any way related). The plaintiff thus sued.
The plaintiff alleges that Tati and James as fiduciaries (representatives) of Halo Beauty were grossly negligent and breached their fiduciary duty. Additionally, the plaintiff alleges breach of contract and breach of duty to deal in good faith (this last allegation is serious - it alleges that James and Tati never intended to follow through on their end of the contract or that they had extra information they didn’t not share with their business partner. Bad stuff).
There’s also a lot of stuff in the complaint about what a scumbag James is apparently.

I find it interesting James kept Dude and Tati from speaking with each other. It's probably to keep Tati from saying too much.
It's going to be interesting what gets produced in discovery, and if it ends up going to trial, who will be called to be a witness.
