As others have replied TF2 has always had a troubling skill cap of getting your ass kicked until you understand. As for the game itself it's fun enough and is really about doing wacky fun things while just playing the game. I would say the community and its sub communities in various community servers have always been the best part. But, that in attempts to make TF2 more modern and sleek Valve has really cracked down on this. No voicechat for both teams to hear by default, sprays disabled by default, very lame. You really need to find a good community server unless you just wanna pubstomp shitters.

This seems to be the most destructive wave so far. They are more coordinated as parties, come in huge volumes at once and the match targeted will be dead at that point.
More money is being invested for premium and some cosmetics and weapons on the bots, more exploits are being used (such as voter not being visible in votekick) and all that. Every few months there seems to be a new rotation of bots.
This Matrix server has existed for a while now for the cause. Seems to be a central for hosters or probably a bait server. They probably were on Discord before getting booted for breaking their TOS.

Also Omegatronic (previously known as Omega228FNAF) seems to be doing their part with their autistic bots. They're quite similar to Twilight Sparkle on the 'tism scale. Previously they had bots named after Five Nights at Freddy's characters and bought all of the accounts a Spine-Chilling Skull worth about $10 while also putting a paint on them matching the said character.

Would it be people that have a really big anti-Valve or anti-Gabe Newell hateboner for some reason? Or would it be another game company that competes with TF2, i.e. Blizzard, Riot Games, Ubisoft, Hi-Rez, trying to sabotage TF2 to draw players to play their games instead?
I don't think they would bother. TF2 is barely alive, although it still has a small but solid community, whose fidelity after all these years is so indubitable that they would not pick another existing game which would be more or less similar, as they were given the opportunity countless times already. The only new players TF2 gets are obtained solely because it's a F2P. Otherwise, nobody actively cares about TF2. I don't know how much Valve gains with it, but considering how much they care about it, I think they'd rather get rid of it given the opportunity. Everything that comes out by now is 100% community-made, and by everything I mean… hats and Halloween maps. If they really cared about keeping it alive, they'd at least implement frequently more community maps or gamemodes; there are tons of them in the Workshop. Or new MvM campaigns, they're already made and ready to be added, it would be a matter of hours at most. They just don't care.

Nah, it's not that deep. Bot and cheat stuff like this outside of serious sales is usually just a hobby with underground communities. You can either get massive attention whores doing it for the attention or people who just wanna make bots cause they enjoy it. With the source code leak and lots of bot templates readily available TF2 is a good place to try your hand. It's just particularly destructive with TF2 because of Valve's lack of input and how VAC functions. VAC doesn't ban right away to try to obscure to cheat creators what it is about their software that set it off.
Most of the halloween maps last year were sadly just reskins of already existing ones.

Have you noticed how shit TF2 really runs on high-end hardware for a game released in 2007? I wouldn't want to touch a codebase like that not even with a long stick! If you were to work at Valve you'd want to work on unannounced games, the brain interface or the VR technology because you can move so freely in the company.
There's also server networks like creators.tf most likely trying to kill off casual to bring traffic to their servers. I think there's been talk about that in the Tyler McVicker thread.
It's probably not that deep as I'm speculating. I don't think it is a stance against Valve.
When it was released, a lot of games at the time were ultra realistic military shooters (tm) and games that took themselves too seriously so it was nice to see a game that did silly stuff. Also it was a game that emphasized teamwork.

Not sure if he used Kurt's microphone or alcohol to do it though. Regardless as a guy who's around people like Twilight at least to me it seems he's a dead meme currently. The most that happened was in 2019 when he revealed his room alongside his old username byrud triggering him. Not to defend Twilight, but in regards to hosting bots or dossing it isn't impressive nor that huge. Many people like Twilight can and do have access to booters and the public Linux paste which the bots run from.
Also why hasn't people like wamo talked about Elder God Heavy? That guy openly spams child porn on Telegram and Wire alongside probably grooming multiple minors.
