Team Fortress 2 died after they introduced matchmaking which resulted in community servers dying.

I miss the good old days of 32 man servers, custom maps, the large amounts of groups/clans, and the Quake announcer.
I had more fun on 4chan Party Van and surf maps than any of the serious maps

Been playing more medic recently if there's no one else. It sucks to lose just because there's no med

I've been playing quite a bit of spy recently, and nothing beats dominating someone so hard that they go rage pyro, or equip a razorback if they're playing sniper. It is annoying when other players on your team start switching to spy when you start top-fragging, and you end up losing because you have 5 spies. It's like how when one person switches to medic and starts carrying the team, several other people switch to medic to try and replicate that.

do you watch MrPaladin on youtube? he gives very helpful tips on playing the spy class and all its weapons. even when hes using the vanilla loadout.

here's an example

anyway. my favorite weapons when i'm using spy are Diamondback, dead ringer, cloak and dagger, big earner, spycicle, and ambassador

I'm curious - have any kiwis been playing on the creators.tf servers? I've found that they tend to be pretty good in terms of getting good quality casual matches with competent players, and mean that you don't have to deal with the swarms of sniper bots that you get on Valve servers. There haven't really been any good community servers since the MyM update, but these servers seem to be a pleasant exception.

I've watched a little of his videos, and I definitely find his videos to be more interesting than that of most spy mains (who mostly make videos of them getting cherrypicked trickstabs or abusing high cl_interp values). I don't watch them that often though, as I'd rather play the game than watch someone else play it. As for favourite weapons, I mostly only use the l'etranger with stock everything else - that increased cloak makes staying undetected so much easier.

Those creators.tf servers are nice. Casual was bad before but now its downright unplayable. Valve done fucked it up

What did they do?
The issue is they didn't do anything, as Casual is now full of bots that either crash the server, aimbot as sniper, or both (Usually aimbotting as sniper, then crashing the server when you try and votekick them). The higher ups at Valve probably decided that updating DOTA 2 yet again was more important.

Bad news. Rick May, the voice actor for the Soldier and the source of a solid third of funny TF2 shit, has died of coronavirus

…and Rick May as Inspector Lestrade

Last evening as I was casually going through Facebook I came across a posting that truly shocked me, my friend Rick May had passed away due to Covid-19. I hadn’t seen him since December of last year when he recorded what has sadly now turned out to be his last turn as Inspector Lestrade for our radio series “The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.” Rick had played the part since the third episode back in 1998 and was the longest running actor in the role in the history of broadcasting. The posting said he’d suffered a heart attack in February of this year, which I knew nothing about. He was also dealing with cancer; I think he might have bragged that it took a pandemic to bring him down.

I met him over thirty years ago and while we weren’t the socializing type of pals we always enjoyed running into each other at a gig or audition. Every recording session with him was always laugh-filled. Yet when the lights went down or the engineer said, “rolling” he was the consummate professional. He worked hard to get it right and we could always depend on him to deliver. In talking with his wife Diana I found out that he loved the sessions, the camaraderie, the give and take during the rehearsals and actual recording. Whenever one of his shows aired he would listen, as do I to mine. However, Rick would listen to the ones he’d had no part in and write to say, “Wasn’t so and so great!” or “Man, that was a fantastic scrip!” I would always send him a copy of the finished product.

Rick May was a force of nature, a pain in the ass sometimes but never to the point where I would not use him again and again. We were working friends, colleagues and buddies. Hopefully there will be those who will speak of his years in the theater, as a teacher, a director and voice talent, of his one-man show as Teddy Roosevelt. I knew the man who asked me if I could get him a copy of an old Republic Studios serial cliffhanger “The Phantom Rider” if he got me an autograph from his friend Ty Hardin from the old “Bronco” TV series.
I knew the man who along with Frank Buxton and David Selvig stood and applauded my daughter Andee when I introduced her to the audience at the Kirkland Performance Center for what would be her first appearance as a professional actor.

I knew the man who was always encouraging when I had my bout with cancer.

I knew the man whose passing leaves a huge hole in my heart and I believe so many others.

I wish you strength Diana.

Rick I wish for you to know eternal peace.

Goodbye buddy, I’m gonna miss the hell out of you.
