Here's a picture I found a while back. Think I first encountered it on Facebook, but I'm not sure of the original source. (Picked this up off iFunny since that was the first thing that popped up when I Googled it...)

"Emo, emotionless" and "cluts" always get me

So what's a clut?

I repeat... it's not like the original show was this deep drama. People hated it for being too goofy, just like they do now.

Because they're incredibly sensitive and can't stand it when one person is mean to another in a TV show, no matter what the circumstances, no matter if we're supposed to hate the guy.

Mr. Enter (yes I know) used to throw around "mean-spirited" all the time in this context. I guess it makes sense it's an obsession with cartoon spergs in general. That and edgelord-ism seem to be endemic.

They think the original was a masterpiece compared to TTG? I remember people whiniging about the animesque art and how OOC most of the cast was then.

Most cartoon spazes on tumblr can confirm the edgelord thing but covering it up with "I CARE ABOUT QUALITY CHILDRENS CARTOONS"

Time has a way of making the dreck of today becoming the masterpieces of tomorrow. Anyone remember when most of the Cartoon Cartoons were considered dreck that were inferior to the obviously better Toonami? Or when Rocko's Modern Life was considered a half assed Ren and Stimpy ripoff?

The whole "I care about quality children's cartoons" dreck is stupid. They fancy themselves the Peggy Charrens of the 2010s, so it seems. Not like the networks will listen to any of them anyway. Nobody gives a damn about whiners on the Net.

I guess it's because the spergiest and most socially-awkward kids get btfo by their real-life peers and seek refuge in cartoons. Then when they see cartoon characters acting in the same way as the cooler kids who bullied them IRL, it reminds them of their own situation and causes butthurt.

Some of us back in the day were too busy actually being entertained by those shows to give a shit what whiners on the internet have to say. As is what the current generation of little kids are doing right now. They simply enjoy the shows for what they are (or because they are bored), they have no concept of what ripoffs are because everything is new to a child so they approach things with an open mind. However, memory is malleable.

Unless a show falls into obscurity there are two paths it may go: Sacred cow or AVGN-fodder. Shows that fall into sacred cow territory are the shows that people are wearing rose-colored glasses with and someone popular on the internet says are good. Shows that are AVGN-fodder are the shows that are somewhat obscure and were not memorable. In this case, the people wear shit-colored glasses and likely re-remember as worse then it really may be.

Back on topic, here is a playlist of Teen Titans Go! rants

Ah, I remember the old Teen Titans. I used to be a huge fan of the show and then this WRETCHED ABOMINATION known as Teen Titans Go was released. Now my soul is forever unclean and whenever I hear the show I collapse to the ground and suffer a case of horrendous PTSD because my fragile little psyche cannot handle such a despicable creation su-PFFFFTAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH alright, alright, I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Never watched TTG. Not my cup of tea. Don't care about at all.

... You guys have already rated this Power Level, haven't you?

Anyway, I was rather curious to see what I would get if I just typed "Teen Titans Go Sucks" in the Google search bar. Turns out... quite a lot of shit.

Teen Titans ended in 2006 (with a direct-to-video movie) and it seemed we had heard the last of Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy. Then in 2012, animated shorts starring the team called The New Teen Titans aired on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block, clearly set in the same continuity as the Teen Titans series (with the same voice cast and miniaturized character designs). The shorts proved popular enough for Cartoon Network to consider reviving the property.

Sadly, instead of a straight continuation of the original series, what we got was a “re-imagining” of the original series in the form of Teen Titans Go! The voice cast remains the same, but there are many aspects of this new animated series which have caused frustration and outright hatred from fans. This series has so much potential, which is why it is upsetting that to date, Teen Titans Go! has been a failure.

The pilot episode brought in 2 million viewers. On June 11, 2013, Cartoon Network renewed Teen Titans Go! for a second season, citing successful ratings.[10] On April 29, 2015, the series was renewed for a third season.[11]

Yep, definitely a failure.

The thing with the old Teen Titans, I don't think it would be accessable to younger children, it seemed like an older children/teen show because of all the drama and action and no funnies (that youn g kids would understand) Teen Titans Go seems to be aimed at younger children and the going trend in catoons these days I find is the wacky humor kind of XD RANDUM, but that's really what kids enjoy.
I remember the old Teen Titans show came out when I was like 10 and I had zero interest in it because it was not in my demographic.

The fact that this show is running for 3 seasons is a much greater insult than any of the potshots the writers can come up with. And I love it.

I kind of wonder - what are the demographics? What age are older and younger children supposed to be?... Older children probably aren't above 13 - after that, you're a teenager.

If the show runs longer than the original did, it'll be the biggest insult of them all.
