Tell me about something that makes you happy - life is mostly terrible but okay sometimes

Clapping ass on things I used to hate or be ridiculed for. Granted, mentally I'm still fat or don't care about my (100lb) loss, but getting into cycling after having my ass beat on a camping school trip; pretty good.

I really want a tiny naked/short haired cat though. :(

Sphynxes are neat but expensive and apparently have a few unique care requirements

This is more of a temporary thing, but graduating from college manga tard cum laude feels nice.

As for lasting happiness, I get to marry my best friend this Saturday

When it comes to day to day happiness, reading something interesting, playing piano, singing and cooking are all things that make life more enjoyable

A well-made rye Manhattan.

Pud see ew from my favorite Thai joint.

Playing RDR2 SP while high on an indica edible.

Sitting in the sauna at the gym after lifting some weights.

Drip coffee with half-and-half first thing in the morning.

Finally figuring out how to beat a tough enemy in a video game after dying repeatedly for a while.

Pretending that anything I've ever done really matters, or that my friends are anything more than shallow acquaintances of convenience.

Popping open a refreshing can of coke. There's just something about it that warms my heart.

For all of the troubles me and her have had against eachother, I still genuinely love my mom. I hope she gets better soon.

My tiny black dwarf cat, Eclair. She loves sitting on my shoulder.

I really enjoy working on my car, today, I figured out a problem that has been bothering me for MONTHS, and it felt so good to feel the car fire up normally.

Edit: I also love my cat, dog, beer, weed, all the best things

Not much lately. Closest thing would be golf, but I've been playing like shit lately so I'm more often frustrated than I am happy.

In better days it was spending time with my cat.

I have a few things that make me happy with my main one is my cat he brings so much joy to my life. I also enjoy when I hang out with my friends and we start laughing till we can't stop and our sides hurt, I also can't go wrong with good home cooked food and thunderstorms.

Reading something from Haruki Murakami, like 100% Perfect Girl. always puts me in a good and creative mood for some reason.

Cooking, even if I start with the miserable idea of dipping emergency hotdogs in my emergency can of beans it quickly spirals into grander designs and the excitement builds with every "didn't I have goat cheese?" that adds to the possibilities of what can be cooked and the emergency hotdogs/beans goes back to where they were. Cooking really makes life better. That feeling of being a kid heading home with a new toy/game can be found as an adult when heading home with lasagna sheets and a head full of almost pornographic food ideas.

Writing. I used to want to be a famous author. It's not that it wouldn't be nice but [this ties in a little with the ruined childhood thread, in a way] I learned about the way agents and contracts work, and book tours and the way your work can be changed without your permission to sell more, etc. What I like about my stories is that I can express myself and make something truly beautiful (or terrible, if that's what I'm in the mood to do.) And knowing it could be turned into something that generates money for someone else really put me off of wanting to do it for a living. So now I just write what I want, post it on fanfiction sites or wherever, or I write stories for people to make them happy. In writing "my way" it has remained pure and enjoyable for me. Sometimes I write stuff I never even show anyone. Writing is something I "can't not do." It's part of my identity and usually if I'm not doing it, something is very wrong. My little diatribes on this site help because I have a place I can write daily, then keep my novel-length projects going simultaneously. I've thought about starting a Patreon or whatever to make extra money while I write but the reason I decided not to is because then people's opinions might influence what I do, and that's counterproductive. Writing my way without worrying about what other people think or say about it makes me happy.

I actually used to be of a similar mind - I really wanted to be an investigative journalist as a career but liked the idea of writing fiction as a kind of deeper personal fulfillment pursuit. Ironically it was a college writing workshop that just killed any confidence I had in doing that.
