Remember when TellTale Games was not only alive, but made point-and-click adventures as opposed to visual novels? Well, a new company stocked with devs from the Sam and Max series (and the rights to it) is going to remaster the entire series for PC and Switch.

Actually looks fucking good. They kept the art-style spot on and the new music is gonna be ace! Kinda miss it looking like a PS2 game though...
Hopefully it fixes the bugs haha.

Someday we might even get a season 3 soundtrack!

No. All they did was give the visuals more lights and shadows. There was nothing wrong with how the original looked. Now people are going to have to upgrade their computers to play a 10+ year old game just because it has a """nicer""" coat of paint.

It's not bad. It's a fun time-waster kinda like Strong Bad's Cool Games 4 Attractive People. Quips/Jokes/Gags are hit and miss.

It looks like the only non-visual changes will be adjusting some dialogue timing, more music, and the aforementioned redub (which I hope they get someone who can do the dialogue justice). I don't think there's anything to worry about in that regard.

Humourwise S&M is kind of an exotic taste (fitting considering the acronym) but pretty much every episode has at least one joke that'll leave you gasping for breath, especially in the second series. The games eschew a lot of the typical adventure game bullshit like combining items to keep the pace going but when you get stuck the game can really become a drag. The cartoony style is fun and compelling and loves to compete with the writing to see which can be the most outlandish without venturing straight into non sequitur. Probably the best part is that the game never takes itself seriously, which is a very nice break from seemingly everything else out there.

Now that @crocodilian 's image macro reminds me, I realize that Telltale's Sam & Max is basically the Nedroid of vidya, only with actual continuity.

They never explain why Max's gun disappears and re appears at random after long lengths of time.

It's also never been depicted as loaded.

Just played the first episode. Pretty good but some comments.

Graphics look great and they didn't fuck up the art style or remove anything important. You can definitely tell it's a 2006 game with all the house industries fonts and gaudy photoshop layer effects.
Boy do Sam and Max sound off. Not sure if it's decompression fucking with me or the voices were rerecorded. (Edit: OOPS! Apparently Max has a completely different voice actor for the first episode. That's why it's so weird)
The music is FAR too quiet. It's as if they had a system to dynamically lower it whenever anyone's talking but it's always stuck on "talk mode".
The game uses a very strange fullscreen mode. Whenever you alt tab, the taskbar is still obscured.
Somehow manages to make my fans go crazy (Not as bad as unreal engine games). Might just be my PC.
Controller works a treat. Had one menu glitch (that saving and reloading fixed) but otherwise fine.

Just starting the game, I noticed it now has a chapter select. Seems like it will allow you to replay certain parts of episodes, which is nice.
From the reviews, it looks like it's about as faithful as it could be, except for Bosco's voice. We'll see if this holds.
EDIT: Yeah, Bosco sounds off. He's not gruff enough. Also, there's a bit of visual clipping here and there, but nothing particularly bad so far.

Well they're pretty much calling Cyclists a buch of retards, so I can't fully disagree with these changes.
