The /pol/ approved hot take is that Tencent's 5% stake in Activision Blizzard is part of the reason that Blizzard is bending over for their communist masters. It's probably mostly correct if you don't mind oversimplifying Activision Blizzard's relationship with China. One of Activision Blizzard's ins with the Chinese market is their partial Chinese ownership which is pretty much a requirement at this point for safely doing business with the ratmen.Why is Tencent's (a Chinese company) "political oppression" in gaming any worse than Blizzard's (an American company) who will ban/suspend you for political speech they disapprove of?
