anyone else know of this guy? He's an overweight, incompetent survivalist-type guy who is most famous for accidentally shooting himself in the leg on camera. I'm somewhat surprised that a search of his name on this forum came up empty. He kinda reminds me of Chris in certain ways. He speaks with a forced John-wayne type accent, wears a cowboy hat, and calls himself "Tex", even though he lives in Illinois. His videos are almost always hilarious fails.

Okay, does everyone remember how people used to be annoyed the fuck off by Chitoryu12 and 'I have more guns than you'?! Sorry gang but that's me now and this guy is a fucking clown. I own guns. Happily and on purpose. I am not a 'gun nut' and if you do not believe in gun ownership or whatever that's fine, I honor that, and this is not that post. This post is older than that. This dude is a drugstore cowboy.

In 30 years (yeah, not a typo) of gun ownership I have NEVER -- nor three generations of my family -- shot myself with a firearm!!!! What a complete fucking moron! Why the HELL is this asshole standing in front of a target drawing his pistol?! You NEVER draw a gun with your finger on the trigger! You NEVER put your finger on the trigger! Ever! Exactly the same way that you don't put on a condom unless you plan to fuck.

We will now move on to... "Trick roping'. What "Tex" is demonstrating is called the Mariposa ('Butterfly' en Espanol as Chris could surely tell you). Badly. Also. That is a riata and not a lariat (yeah, there's actually a difference I won't bore you with it). Anyway the idea is this is worked from the ground and it is to open the loop wide enough for the rope to resemble a butterfly in flight. Eventually you open the loop large enough to throw it and snag a cow or a goat. Fancy Mariposa are big enough to jump in and out of and impress the señoritas. Which is what drugstore cowboy is trying to show you

How,you may ask, do I know this? I have been a bad part-time cowgirl. My father and grandfather were full on ranchers. But I have gotten up at 5am, saddled a horse and helped push cattle to a branding (we do it with CO2 these days. It's called freeze branding and does not hurt the cow). I have run cattle into squeeze chutes for medication and vaccinations. I drive a truck and when we are done I go get my my nails done. I can twirl a rope badly, but I could teach any one of you to open up a loop. I have carried a pistol in heavy brush for protection against rattlers and used it. I showed stock and draft horses for 20 years. And yeah, I can hitch a team and drive it. And even though I work in the entertainment industry, and love NYC with all my heart, I will always be a redneck behind the wheel of a truck. Or the Mercedes my dad left me, along with his .45.

TL;DR: This nut is a "dude", and a full on Cowgirl calls him out

I grew up in the Smoky mountains, and while this guy is pretending to be a "cowboy" and that's kind of a different thing (most people don't really know or care about the difference between rednecks and mountain-people), watching this idiot play cowboy-outdoorsman is still like watching a car accident.

As for him shooting himself, i wasn't at all surprised. This guy had 'negligent discharge' written all over him. Condition 1 carry is srs business, and if you're going to carry a 1911 in condition 1, then you train with your 1911 and that's it. you don't "train earlier in the day" with your glock in a holster which uses a release that's exactly where the safety on your 1911 is, and then start doing combat drills w said 1911. But like i said, i don't think it's funny that he shot himself. I just don't find it surprising. at least he accepts full blame in that, but if you watch enough of this guys videos, it's clear that like many 'gear-nuts' he views his firearms as toys to be shown-off and played with.

I appreciate that, wasn't aware that I had been crying, might admit I'd had a couple of glasses of wine, though. But glad to be hilarious. Don't you work on a cattle station? Would love to hear your thoughts on this guy. Cattle basically being the same everywhere I'm going to guess you have similar methods.

Welcome. Yeah, I work on a cattle station and I find this guy to be a bit of a dumbass blowhard who shouldn't be anywhere near firearms. I mean, , he handles them in such a dangerous way, it's amazing he's only shot himself the one time. Also, I'm not an expert on trick rope, but he seems very amateurish, it looks like he's struggling a little.
Also, my cattle station hasn't switched over to CO2.
