To be honest I think it was a mercy killing.
I don't think anyone can really pin-down an exact definition of "alt-right" and how it differentiates from simple far right American political conservatism. Well, at least that everyone will be able to generally agree upon and isn't super vague and ultimately unhelpful.
In my opinion a better bet would be to just make a thread specifically about either one or one clearly defined group of sites/communities that self-identify as "alt-right" so nobodies arguing over what is and is not "alt-right" since I think that's where a lot of the sperging was coming from.

Why? Like I understand the politics, but I don't why you'd want to associate with the rampant tards those groups attract.
I think people in this thread are having trouble defining what the alt-right, since it's relatively new, so moderates are in there, as well as the neo-nazi or NatSoc "Hitler was right about everything, Mein Kampf is my bible" type people.
The group hasn't formed into an autistic singularity yet I think, I could pull a typical /pol/ post from the past 2 years and hold it up as an example of a lolcow alt-right poster. I really think what people are trying to mock are the neo nazi/natsoc dictatorship autists that were always there. Which tends to make everyone get confused, since we are right in the middle of an election where moderates are going to be engaged and posting memes, and saying they are alt-right.

BLM was originally like that, it was about raising awareness of Black deaths in police custody, but then the ex-Black Panthers come in, take over and decide its time to stick it to the white man, the moderates leave etc etc.

The alt-right feels almost like the new Gamergate. On one side, you've got the self-important autists who feel like they're part of the next cultural revolution, and on the other, there's the folks who simultaneously deride them as neckbeard losers and genuinely fear they're going to bring the apocalypse.
