The Anime Voice -

Has anyone else noticed that certain spergs have a distinct manner of talking. As if they were being voice acting for anime. Not imitating any particular character, but the general cadence and rhythm of how they talk. Its hard to describe if youve never seen it before. But its a real phenomenon. Why are anime voice spergs so much worse than other spergs? And how the hell do you get the Anime Voice? Like, how do you completely override the way that you were taught to talk to better imitate chinese cartoons? Did these people LEARN HOW TO TALK, from anime?

Since a lot of lolcows have had bad childhoods full of neglect, they resorted to their surrogate parent, the television. I think their impressionability made it so that they picked up obviously exaggerated and cartoonish mannerisms. In addition, a lot of autistic people don't talk until fairly late, so I would assume they would pick up on things that are colorful and they like. Chris would probably be a prominent example, I'm guessing, as would A-log.

I've known a handful of people who learned english primarily through media (movies and the like) and none of them had anime voice. It's interesting to think about how socially isolated one needs to be that their language skills regress when english is their first language.

I think a part of it might be they only emotionally/socially develop to the age of a small child. Adulting is hard for them and they can't really engage in adult relationships. They're kind of capped at child-like social interactions. That's why they love cartoons, cuz they can understand or at least follow whats going on socially with them. I remember when I was a kid I used to hate talk radio, because it just seemed like boring adult talk, but as I got older I learned to appreciate it more.

I think they have child like voices, because they are child like people.

Cartoon characters, especially anime characters, talk in an over-exaggerated manner. It might have made it easier for autistic people to identify emotions this way, and they adapted the speech mannerisms. So while a person could be angry and have a calm voice, in anime they are LOUD and ANGRY, so an autist might be LOUD and ANGRY so people know they're angry.
