Those skull masks are so common as bases now but they look amazing when done well. Sadly they get often treated like those Jurassic park and Halloween masks, and just get covered in a bit of fur and given a shoddy paint job and sold off again. It's supposed to be a skull dog, for 666usd, jesus.
This is actually a pretty nice looking realistic rat costume. There’s an attention to detail going on that highlights the fact that the maker doesn’t just produce suits that all look like the same vague canid.

Considering they cost $300 as a blank base, It's worth at least putting some decent work into it to make up for what you spent.
This one is pretty lovely...
But most of them are literally just 'slap on a black hood, call it a day'
Not that it's a bad combo, but I really wish more people would actually go out of the comfort zone and do more unique setups with those bases.

i really think the hair ruins it, personally. the derpy eyes are also annoying in my eyes, but that's common within a lot of realistic suits it seems.I will say the technical artistry in making a good rat suit (aside from that hair, its uncanny) is impressive, but the existence of Toggle with that awful rat as his quirky and niche fursona has made me question every other rat furry I see as a potential closet/alt account zoosadist.
The skrillex hair is just the right touch. It really says, "i, as most furries, have no fucking taste."i really think the hair ruins it, personally. the derpy eyes are also annoying in my eyes, but that's common within a lot of realistic suits it seems.
personally i think realistic suits leave little to no room for error or else the whole thing gets fucked considering their goal is realism and not stylization
Is that you Alfred Alfer? It's kinda cute in a dopey way, from the front at least.

Hard agree that kemono-style suits (actual east Asian ones, not burgerlanders trying to pull the Chinese method of steal the name and bootleg) are usually pretty cohesive and look cute instead of the really uncanny and off vibes most western toony suits have (unless they go all in on toon style and run with it to where it becomes less of a sanitized wolf suit and more grotesque or bizarre and character like, which is quite rare.)The skrillex hair is just the right touch. I can't say all, but im still of the opinion that the asians have the most coherent and aesthetically pleasing suits. Colors are usually nice, oppressive adornments are usually at a minimum and they seem comfortable enough.
I'll never understand the western or European choice of semi realism, realism, or the bastardized toon style

I quite enjoy some of the material choices the Kemono suits popularized - A few western makers like Cavitysam have taken up on aspects like the Dome eyes, and it's easy as just ripping the transparent plastic casing from old Easter Eggs. I'm not really too into the kemono faces myself since anime style just doesn't appeal to me, but they definitely look clean.Hard agree that kemono-style suits (actual east Asian ones, not burgerlanders trying to pull the Chinese method of steal the name and bootleg) are usually pretty cohesive and look cute instead of the really uncanny and off vibes most western toony suits have (unless they go all in on toon style and run with it to where it becomes less of a sanitized wolf suit and more grotesque or bizarre and character like, which is quite rare.)

Rufen is one of those kemono suits that has some bits below the neck where the design is a pain to read in pictures, I will not deny that, but compare it to any Western suit and you're a liar if you can't say Rufen looks a league better than the majority of them.
Yeah, the kemono suits can suffer from major fogging in the eyes (like when glasses get steamy), so need to regularly wipe them down/let them dry. Most of the Japanese makers tend to put fans in the head and even the body sometimes, so they may be slightly cooler in temperature than regular Western suits, but I think it depends on preference.God damn, that's a really good toony german pinscher (? from what I can tell) head, that's the kind of toony I like, where it's actually damn stylized and not a cookie cutter fursuit wolf.
And agreed on the dome eyes, they add that spark of life to the eyes with how it reflects light that painting on the front of buckram can't do. I hear it makes ventilation hell though, and kemono suits have the small mouths, so I have no doubt that they need a fan going in the heads and more frequent head-off breaks to cool down and get fresh air, at least I'd assume so.
Don Bluth style toons over bastardized disney toons imo. You can make 'ugly' animals appealing with some effort and skill, but that is pretty rare unfortunately.I quite enjoy some of the material choices the Kemono suits popularized - A few western makers like Cavitysam have taken up on aspects like the Dome eyes, and it's easy as just ripping the transparent plastic casing from old Easter Eggs. I enjoy Toony and Realistic stuff both, but they have their own kinda preferences at times. The wig hair on a fursuit rarely works, and when it does, it mostly goes with realistic stuff because it looks so painfully out of place on a toon.
It has been a minute since i looked into western attempts to copy the asian style, last i checked, there was a company churning out poor quality rufen knockoffs. old cartoon people tend to be the worst kinds of freaks, i wonder what things this dude's done in his life. also those foot paws are so obviously cheap shit he probably got from walmart and the fur looks like joanne's craft fur. icing on the cake if you ask me.View attachment 2150915

This person went to Dunkin' Donuts dressed like this.
This is (I believe) his newest fursuit. According to his DA.
