Wikipedia said:
The Banner Saga is a fantasy tactical role-playing video game developed by Stoic Studio and published by Versus Evil. It was initially released for personal computers and mobile phones in January 2014. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released in 2016, with a Nintendo Switch version released in 2018.

Taking place in a fictional world inspired by Norse mythology, the game tells the story of the player's caravan as a whole, as they combat a warlike race named Dredge that despises humans. The game follows two playable characters, each having their own story that ultimately merges into one. The game features an interactive story which changes depending on players' decisions.

The game served as the debut title for Stoic Studio, which was founded by three former BioWare designers. The game was funded via Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform. The hand-drawn animation and art-style featured in the game was inspired by the art of Eyvind Earle, Ralph Bakshi and Don Bluth. Austin Wintory composed the game's music, with Dallas Wind Symphony performing. The game's multiplayer component, titled The Banner Saga: Factions, was released as a free standalone game before the game's release.

The game received critical praise upon release, with critics praising the game's art style, combat, and story. The game was followed by The Banner Saga 2 (2016) and The Banner Saga 3 (2018). A tabletop RPG tie-in miniseries, produced by Hyper RPG, aired from July 24 to August 14, 2018 on Twitch.

The gameplay is mediocre but the presentation is great and the visuals make me weep for the sad fate of western animation. The choice and consequence is...maybe good? I dunno, that's actually why I made the thread. Anyone played the third one? Does it come to a satisfying conclusion, or is this one of those Mass Effect type deals? I'm afraid to google because spoilers and no one I know has played this obscure piece of shit.

To be fair I'll probably by the third one eventually just because holy shit, this music.

So, anyone played this? Thoughts?

To answer OP's questions, the third game is awesome and made the other 2 even better by association. The ending is good, not perfect, but good and the choices you make definitely decide the ending you will get. Just one word of warning that you'll miss a large chick of the game if you rush through the last chapter, feel free to take your time and enjoy yourself.
Is this the one candy crush tried suing or whatever?

As mediocre as the gameplay is I almost wish it was just a cartoon to be honest but it's still fun and at least unique stuff happens sometimes if you just accept that you lost a battle instead of saving and reloading. Most games don't work that way.

I got the Master Tactician achievement in the first game and only .08% of players got that. It wasn't hard to do.

Not sure if I'll ever buy saga 2 and 3.

It was an okay game, but kinda short. The weird thing is my banner was never that long. I was expecting a long banner.

Master Tactician
Win a battle on Hard difficulty in the camp Training Tent using 6 rank 5 units.

No it did work. The goal of the lawsuit wasn't to prevent Banner Saga from existing, it was to get them to settle saying King retains ownership of the word "Saga" in relation of games so that in the future when one of the obvious Candy Crush clones makes the mistake of naming themselves "Sweet Smashing Saga" King can go after them with all the powers of god and anime on their side. In the United States in order to protect your trademark you have to be able to show that you have always been proactive about protecting it.

I would recommend them both, the second game adds a lot more classes and play styles and the third adds even more classes with some now rules to the combat, the gameplay does get fun and frantic.

Yeah but when the collective world calls you a faggot for it, was it really worth it?

I didn't know anything about this Candy Crush shit. That's pretty annoying. This studio is tiny and poor and that they had to waste money on this bullshit pisses me off.

I was force-fed a few ads for 3 & it looks halfway decent. Waiting for the X-Mas Steam sale.
I'd play the first 2 before you get the third, you can play the third without the other's but it'll be feel disjointed and weird, like reading/watching return of the king before starting at the fellowship.
But it is well worth it

I'd love to see some kind of extended edition that just had all three games in one seamless package with some of the gameplay improvements patched backwards. And maybe characters with more than one facial expression in conversation.

I think there's a Switch version coming out soon that's all three.

The art team owes a pretty big debt to Ralph Bakshi IMO.

I would have said Don Bluth myself. That almost made me pull the trigger, but I'm not much for tactical combat.
