The Best and Worst Commentators/Personalities -

Alright denizens of the CWCki forums, what do you all have to say on the various commentators and personalities of the gaming world? When I say that, I mean people like LPers and what not. Anyhow fellow Christorians, who would you say are the best and worst individuals/channels/collectives in the medium of gaming?

For me, the best are, in no particular order:
-Northernlion
-TwoBestFriendsPlay
-Cr1tikal
-Yahtzee

On the opposite side of the spectrum, the absolute worst commentators are:
-Pewdiepie
-DSP
-Tobuscus
-iJustine

Chip & Ironicus (though Ironicus can be really massively annoying at times)
Men Drinking Coffee (check out their Let's Play of Ride to Hell : Retribution, it's great)
The Dinner Dates

Honorable mentions :
Isvaffel7 (a weird kid making :effort: videos with extreme amount of mumbling and breathing into the mic. Used to also spam his videos into /v/ and get permabanned several times. Pestered himself into notoriety.)
Geop (great Assassin's Creed Let's Plays of AssCreeds 1 and 2 with a mix of history trivia, his other LPs are imo kinda weak)

I don't really keep track of the worst, only the good ones matter to me.

Best:
Two Best Friends + Woolie, but not Liam (he's not funny)
Nerd^3 (generally funny)
RaedWulfGamer (i think he's amusing for some reason)

Worst:
DSP (no comment needed)
PewDiePie (boring, unfunny, swedish)
Game Grumps (they are terrible at games, generally unfunny, and they scream constantly)

Worst: Anyone who does minecraft gameplay videos

PewDiePie sucks balls too. He's fooled me into thinking he was good looking before I saw some of his "funny" faces. Which scarred me for life.

iJustine's popularity also boggles my mind.

I generally enjoy anything with at least two people in the LP(Roosterteeth, SuperBestFriends, Game Grumps). They give off a good "hanging out playing games with your friends" vibe to them.

I didn't watch any Let's Plays much, but one LP I know a lot is DSP and he's one of the most notorious (and one of the worst) Let's Players on YouTube. It reached the point that he has several ED pages about him (because one page is not enough) and hundreds of videos showing his failures.

However, the worst LP in my opinion was, is and will be Nostalgia Critic's godawful "Bart's Nightmare" video. At least DSP doesn't rage about the game every 5 seconds and NC's LP sounds like a raging maniac playing a game and it's fucking painful.

 

[Charlie's Chaplin]

As pretentious as he can be, I do like Jim Sterling's commentary on the games industry in the Jimquistion, but especially love him when he plays YouTuber-bait "horror" games. His LP of Outlast is an entertaining watch too, quite heartwarming when he thanks everyone for watching at the end of it... genuinely sweet!

Rule of thumb for me seems to be don't watch anyone with a photoshopped picture of their heads with craazy expressions on game art as a thumbnail.

TeamFourStar(a lot of the stuff on their game channel has them in-character as they are in DBZ Abridged.)
Worst:
Pewdiepie(annoying)
Really anyone that plays horror games with a big ass facecam in the corner.

Worst: DSP (obviously) iJustine, PewdiePie, ect.

Sorta bad sorta good: Egoraptor. I like him in Game Grumps and I enjoy his animations. But not so much his sequelitis videos. I don't know, I just can't agree with him on certain things when it comes to gaming.

EDIT: I forgot to add Brainscratch Comms and the Super Gaming Bros. on the like list.

Considering Kikoskia, I'd like to be another of those who give that love. Never forget his playthrough of Ultima VII, both the Black Gate and Serpent Isle along with his Lands of Lore III video.

Best:
Yuriofwind - Pretty funny guy, gives a lot of trivia on games. Also has an amusing series where he reads bad gaming creepypastas.
Totalbisquit - While I wouldn't take his word on games as gospel, he always manages to make valid points in the games he reviews.
Yahtzee - Zero Punctuation rocks.
...Isvaffel7 aka Jaakko Järvinen - Every single video is just so bizzare.

Worst:
PewDiePie - Although I admit some of his videos get me chuckling, him just screaming and yelling gets old fast.
AngryJoe - While I do find many of his videos entertaining, I think he needs to scream less and research/play the games he reviews more. A good example would be his review of Guild Wars 2 (9/10 for a game with roughly 60% endgame content bugged during the time of his review.)

I don't watch Let's Plays that often but based on the few seconds I've watched him, PewdiePie annoys the shit out of me. He's like the Fred/Annoying Orange of gamers. I do like CryoticMonkie though.

 

[Watcher]

I do like Proton Jon's lets play of Superman 64. It's extremely informative and it's that really good Something Awful style of Lets Playing where the guy doing it incorporates a lot of editing and makes it really enjoyable for people who both never played the game and have played it.

Unfortunately he's hasn't finished it yet and it's been like a year without a new episode.
