How the fuck does the Dude even keep the lights on? If he's unemployed, how's he even getting by? I've seen no evidence of him being disabled or a welfare scammer in the movie. He's gotta pay the bills somehow!

In an early draft of the script, The Dude's source of income was revealed. He was an heir to the inventor of the Rubik's Cube. It was Joel Coen's idea to drop this and never say.
My guess the Dude has some form of employment off screen. It was never relevant to the story, so wasn't included.Dr. Cuddlebug said:Better question, how does the Dude own a house, a car, gas for that car, money for milk, bathrobes, bowling balls. I mean the list goes fucking on.
The best answer is to just not question it. The Dude abides.
I think the Dude mentions he's unemployed at one point in the movie.Kamen Rider Black said:My guess the Dude has some form of employment off screen. What the fuck were those ashes then?Kamen Rider Black said:(shrugs) For all we know he is a Nam vet and suffered some disability himself. His own little tugboat. Maybe his parents died and he's living off the inheritance. Don't know, don't care.
So, what does everyone think of the idea that Donny is part of Walter's imagination? I, myself, think the Stranger is part of the Dude's imagination.

Forget it. The whole movie was just an acid flashback.Kamen Rider Black said:Coffee?exball said:What the fuck were those ashes then?Kamen Rider Black said:(shrugs) For all we know he is a Nam vet and suffered some disability himself.
