Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you the first in a series of articles about Autisimlatina sorry Australatina that is also part of a upcoming series of "Phil and...", we will start of with a exploration of this poorly constructed fevered wet dream of a facist hell hole with a pictorial of it's cartography.
This is the oldest Map I have discovered to date according to Phil is double sided (I can only find one side, so that claim is dubious at best) dating from 2003.
Sadly this is the only version I have at this time and most of the finer details are missing, however as you will come to see Phil's primitive cartographical skill's lead to a incredible amount of revision as the mood takes him.
Some speculation can be drawn however.
1) This is not Phil's first visit to this particular land of make believe.
2) He has had a obsession with Map's and road signs in general for a very long time before this map was created.
3) This is at least partly traced from a real world map.
This is another early example of the development of the country, however Phil allowed a few errors to creep in in a lot of other "Historical dates" given the country was founded in 1948 not in 1947, also this is early as the bureaucratic boundaries are not as complex as he will later draw, he has also tried to claim this was drawn in 2009 however if you look in the bottom right hand corner you will see that the date of 17th May 2008 is scrubbed out and 2009 written over it.
This map appears to be dated from late September and is part of what appears to be a Tourists guide to every deviants favourite tourist destination "The Yaoi district"
It should also be pointed out for the record that this district is named after himself, and if you are fool hardy enough to look at the Useful information panel you will get a clear sense of what Phil's personal priorities are.
This is a slightly earlier map that appears to be a smaller version of the large wall mounted map, on his DA page I initially found this he claimes it was drawn at some point in 2005, however if you look at the date on the bottom center you can see it was drawn in 2003.
Again like it's larger counterpart you can't make out any great detail however, it appears to be a page photographed from a notebook and it appears to be protected in some fashion most likely by cheep clear archival plastic.
This kind of map is clearly important to him as he has drawn if often mostly in a portable smaller format that is carried around with him in a notebook, there is no clear explanation other than the obvious escapism he engages in why he would carry them around.
Most other map's of a cartographical nature are not worthy of inclusion from this point as they are just minor rehashes of the main ones already posted.
We will now focus on one of Phil's other cartographical obsessions, and what appears to be his larger obsession pointless make-believe bureaucracy.
World building as many of us know can be a fantastic mental excersise, coming up with a people and culture, history is a fun way to spend some time if your creative. However for Phil it's a chance to to flex his petty obsession for fuzzy details and focus purely on details nobody else would tend to think of.
(circa 2004 / 2005 exact date unknown)
This is from Phil's early Green period (I say early as the next green period will be his gangreen period amirite) He has spent countless hours dividing and in the next map sub dividing his fantasy land into ever smaller municipalities for the hell of it.
As you can see as time goes one each area is divided into smaller and smaller areas as time goes on the purple map is only 3 - 4 years older and is slightly more complex in it's bureaucratic break down. Why he does this will be explained in a later story but essentially it allows him to try and micromanage his fantasy world in more minute detail but not from a cultural or historical stand point it's to add additional layers of bureaucracy to areas he is quite happy with.
The final example of this insanity is a political heat map of Autisimland.
Considering Australatina is a communist dictatorship it's rather redundant for him to break it down in such a way.
As I said before Phil hasn't fleshed out the areas of his land of make belive in the ways you would expect, he tends to focus on things no one else would consider creating in the level of detail he has because they are purely useless.
For example Postal Codes:
So now if you want to address a letter to Ameratsu you can!
The other area that is oddly fleshed out is the public transport network.
However considering this is a man who is unable to ride a bike or drive a car public transportation figures largely in his life, and as will be covered later he is obsessed with public transport, it features hugely in his obsession particularly trains he isn't a foamer, but he has a HUGE number of railway signs.
Having said that, considering that he can't Drive he has fleshed out the road network in great detail the first of these map's date from his Israel obsessed period (mid way through 2007), some of the names are only slightly modified versions of places found in Israel.
However in the span of two years the continuity is broken, however the Spanish obsession is slightly more obvious and the road network is vastly more complex.
So that brings to end this first part of Curated Autism, I hope you my dear Kiwi's will leave me your feed back about what else you would like to see in this series and just comments in general.
