I was in the backyard picking up dog shit and my thoughts turned to Dave, as they usually do during this activity.
I wondered just how much money that the cottage industry of detractor videos might be making. Like any sub industry it'll surpass his income - that's to be expected since there's a more diverse audience.

So I hit YouTube and entered some search terms to find DSP anti-vids, and took the maximum amount social blade predicts. Of course, this isn't remotely accurate to the scene overall, but it is a good indicator.
I sorted based on the number of views and grabbed a small sampling of videos. I tried to to stick with people mainly DSP-related, but I let a few others in that have multiple DSP videos because, well I wanted a few big numbers to show up.

This is what I found for monthly income (Again, not exhaustive just a 10 minute poke around YT)
It'sAGundam - $12,500 (He's done multiple Dave videos, plus I wanted an impressive number to throw out. But he's autistic about twitch thots)
Memology 101 - $8,500 (Same situation as Gundam)
The 0utsyder - $1,000
Snort Burnell - $1,100
Soma Julius Cruz - $1,500
SECRET - $800
Mighty D - $800
Almighty Tevin - $700
MrHuth Stuff - $300
David Davidson - $300
Ralas - $300
Golden Triangle Gaming - $200
evilaj2010 - $200

All together it's just a tism over $28,000/month. Let's just say $30,000 for good measure.
If you add in bigger name creators that only have a single video about DSP like Fredrik Knudsen or Daddy Jim you'll easily hit $100,000/month. Someone should let DSP know what a strong industry he's created.

DSP Detractor videos collectively have a higher GDP then:

  1. The Democratic Republic of Congo
  2. Zimbabwe
  3. Somalia
  4. Burundi
  5. Central African Republic
  6. Liberia
  7. Niger
  8. Malawi
  9. Madagascar
  10. Tokelau
Let's take an educated logical guess and collectively add all detractor video creators together, this would be anyone that made a video about Dave, and we'll assume that there's a certain amount that gets donated during stream snipes. I think $1,000,000 is a pretty safe number for yearly amount.
That means the Independent Republic of Detractors would be ranked #180, it'd be above St. Kitta and Nevis and just under Grenada. So if he wants to talk about his legacy, that's the one he should be talking about.

Well, if anyone ever had doubts that DSP is essentially an autistic enterprise, this about sums it up.

Now if people's speculations as to Snort Burnell being Ardnas are true, it's some chick from Vietnam. $1,100 is about 10x the minimum wage in that country. Now imagine whining about DSP for a living.

Several of those don't monetize their DSP content but it's a good illustration of the idea. It's another example of Phil turning his nose up at something that would help his financial situation because it involves actually doing a thing, in this case clicking his mouse a few extra times a day.
He could manage his Content-ID claims while he's sitting there monitoring the upload progress bar of his daily snore-fests, but he won't. His ego won't let him because it would involve acknowledging: that detractor content gets more views and has the potential to make more munny than his own raw unedited smoldering garbage heap, that edited content is much more paahpular and is something he should be doing, and that there are tens of thousands of people who think he's a loser and laugh at him daily while there are maybe a thousand unironic DSP fans.
Also I think it would be interesting to see how the viewers and creators of detractor videos on YouTube react to this. Like how strong is the autism, what new shapes would it take? Would people just keep watching videos that were lining DSP's pockets? Would people up their production value in some way to make original creations that Phil can't claim? What would the backlash from the autism-vortex surrounding Phil be?

It'll never happen because Phil doesn't want to do anything he's not already doing, and he's said in the past that anyone can use his content for anything as long as they aren't exact duplicates on his YouTube uploads. He can call things illegal all he wants, he has never rescinded that statement, and I think on some level he knows the entertainment from detractor content is the only reason he still has any relevancy.

Small correction. I dont monetize any of my dsp videos on purpose, so you can cross my name off. Its Pocok.
Ok I did. I didn't actually add up videos individually, I just used the overall channel rank.

It would be interesting to use one of those services that you can give individual videos to figure out the income each one made.

Wings of Redemption takes a cut from all of his detractors who monetize their videos. If they don't give him a cut, he threatens to copyright strike them, so apparently he pulls in a few hundred dollars a month from the troll toll.
This is why Philip won’t bother, it’s just a couple of hundred dollars a month. It’s not even worth the trouble.

Also I think the Pigroach's detractors are better than the Wings of Redemption trolls at making their videos copyright-strike resistant, so maybe the copyright-strike tactic would not work so easily at threatening the videomakers for Phil. For example, all the Snort Burnell videos are flipped and visually/audio distorted, and some of the other videomakers will put in overlays and other changes as well.

I heard Snort was a grill but I never knew she was one of the Vietnam fucking shits. I imagine her doing Snort videos in a Viet Cong tunnel while trying to avoid Marky Mark's wrath.

This is Wing's latest claim, yes, but it's highly unlikely. He's gone from "I don't care" to "Everyone go report the videos!" to "I am Sean Ranklin" to "They're giving me money so I don't strike them down". It's all bullshit. if he had the power to do it the videos would've been down. Same for Phil.

Yeah that sounds more likely. I know if I was making detractor vids, it would probably be on a separate account because I'd be expecting issues from whoever I'm making fun of.
Then again, Wings trolls seem like a very exceptional type of person

I can tell you for a fact that videos which use content originally from your channel end up in a queue on your creator studio which lets you press monetization rights on them. He probably uses his webcam specifically because it helps with fingerprinting videos for machine learning / identification purposes.

Let it also be known that a few of these channels are known for stealing others content (aside from the main target).

Here's the thread for Soma stealing Mighty D's videos and re-purposing them as his own:

I've also contacted @Comma via Dm's just now over a clip that I believe Soma stole from him without giving credit.

Also @Vault Boy is know for shit-tier editing. Not surprised that he isn't on this list.

And last but not least, some shameless thread plug for newbs to the DSPhere of these detractor channels:

This isn't what he's claiming though. He's claiming that the 'troll channels' are sending him paypal payments specifically so he doesn't do anything to their videos.

@LyteSydeByll Would you be willing to tell us how much you rake in via YT monetization? I know most of your DSP-related income comes from donations but SocialBlade has proven to be wildly immaculate.
