I was in the backyard picking up dog shit and my thoughts turned to Dave, as they usually do during this activity.
I wondered just how much money that the cottage industry of detractor videos might be making. Like any sub industry it'll surpass his income - that's to be expected since there's a more diverse audience.
So I hit YouTube and entered some search terms to find DSP anti-vids, and took the maximum amount social blade predicts. Of course, this isn't remotely accurate to the scene overall, but it is a good indicator.
I sorted based on the number of views and grabbed a small sampling of videos. I tried to to stick with people mainly DSP-related, but I let a few others in that have multiple DSP videos because, well I wanted a few big numbers to show up.
This is what I found for monthly income (Again, not exhaustive just a 10 minute poke around YT)
It'sAGundam - $12,500 (He's done multiple Dave videos, plus I wanted an impressive number to throw out. But he's autistic about twitch thots)
Memology 101 - $8,500 (Same situation as Gundam)
The 0utsyder - $1,000
Snort Burnell - $1,100
Soma Julius Cruz - $1,500
SECRET - $800
Mighty D - $800
Almighty Tevin - $700
MrHuth Stuff - $300
David Davidson - $300
Ralas - $300
Golden Triangle Gaming - $200
evilaj2010 - $200
All together it's just a tism over $28,000/month. Let's just say $30,000 for good measure.
If you add in bigger name creators that only have a single video about DSP like Fredrik Knudsen or Daddy Jim you'll easily hit $100,000/month. Someone should let DSP know what a strong industry he's created.
DSP Detractor videos collectively have a higher GDP then:
That means the Independent Republic of Detractors would be ranked #180, it'd be above St. Kitta and Nevis and just under Grenada. So if he wants to talk about his legacy, that's the one he should be talking about.
