The Critical Drinker (real name Will Jordan) is a Scotsman YTer that makes comedic reviews of movies and TV shows with a disdain for political correctness and the forced diversity common now. He is also an author of the Ryan Drake book series.

At first, I found his reviews to be funny, but a lot of his common shticks are getting old. Otherwise I generally still enjoy his reviews.

I decided to make this thread since he had a very well known guest on his Happy Hour stream he did today: Sargon.

Looks like he unlists these streams afterwards, probably for algorithm purposes.

Keep in mind Multimedia is an off-topic forum, we don't need everyone here to be lolcows. So shit takes don't really factor in.
Tbh MauLer probably needs to be moved to the lolcow board (or at least the e-celeb board) at this point. His thread is starting to give users the wrong idea about Multimedia.

On topic, he's had some videos I liked (I actually enjoyed his attempts to "fix" the abandoned character arcs in the new Star Wars movies), but the shtick is wearing a bit thin. He can't ditch it, but it's making his reviews a bit repetitive.

Yeah, my impression is that he does it more as a hobby than a career, which instantly gives him more credibility in a lot of ways.

I like the drinker, except when he makes videos like the "Troubled production of X" where he just reads a Wikipedia article or spams a reaction clip every minute. His 'fixes series is especially good since he can lean on his writing chops to salvage messy characters.

Wish he would go beyond the most recognizable franchises/dumpster fires since he seems like he has the skills/know-how to analyze media that's deeper than a puddle unlike most mainstream shit.

There are exceptions and I think he is one of them. I think he is just a guy who started a channel and it became popular. Time will tell as it always does.

Way shorter than Mauler (for the better, honestly, I don't think Drinker would be as entertaining if he was that fucking long), less up his own ass, and doesn't stick to the gimmick outside of his review videos. I like him. Guess you can hate him for hanging out with the retardedly named podcast, but that'd be as autistic as they are.

Was a sub until recently, kind of got tired of his "woman or POC did bad thing in X" takes. Not a bad reviewer per se, just not for me anymore.
