Luna is also likely ridiculously difficult to perform neurosurgery on because all of the anatomical landmarks you rely on while performing surgery are going to be shifted around due to the cysts.
I think few surgeons would be willing to touch that case. Little chance of improvement, big risk of patient bleeding out.
Yeah, it sounds like the surgeon who did perform the shunt really regretted having Luna come to the hospital. They had some video consultations where he ran his mouth and said he was shocked no one had performed a shunt on such a obvious hydrocephalus case. He then, very oddly, told her just to go to the ER at the hospital he was at (probably so he could get a much bigger Medicaid billing out of this as some sort of emergency surgery.)
Telling her to go to the ER, instead of scheduling the surgery, is really shady. If you truly thought Luna was dying and the surgery was needed to save her life then driving hours to a California hospital is totally ridiculous - but he probably thought it was the only way AZ Medicaid would approve his billing.
So Robyn drove Luna to the ER in California and the doctor ordered iMRIs and realized he had made a serious miscalculation. But at this point, after all his talk and having Robyn drive from AZ he decided to proceed. Robyn sort of details this in her podcast interview. The tone of the doctor radically changed after he had MRIs done and it went from “of course she needs a shunt” to very clearly warning Robyn that Luna could die in the OR (just like every other surgeon had told her as the reason they didn’t want to perform surgery on her).
However, had the CA doctor been sent any recent MRIs of Luna beforehand I don’t think he would have told Robyn to drive on over. He would have realized why so many previous doctors refused to do a shunt. (Duh)

She likely doesn't have enough cortex left to benefit from VPA or any other anticonvulsants, anyway. There has to be brain tissue present for there to be receptor sites for the active molecules to bind to. Loss of cortical volume is actually a huge problem in patients with chronic epilepsy, and it's one of the major reasons why it's absolutely vital to control seizures as soon as they begin. The attempts of the injured brain to repair itself begin to contribute to epileptogenesis.
Godspeed to the epileptologist who has to deal with Robyn. I'm not sure what Robyn thinks a specialist can do. Even a epileptologist can't grow brain tissue for anticonvulsants to work on.
Robyn’s vanity trumps her woo-organic BS every time. Most non-woo moms with newborns I know give up make-up and major hair styling for awhile - just because you want to be able to hold your baby to your face and head without worrying about cosmetics and chemicals getting on their skin or breathing.
Woo moms are usually even more hardcore about any dyes, fragrances, cosmetics, chemicals getting anywhere near their newborns and rid their house of them for a year or two.
Not Robyn - Robyn is full face make-up and styling products galore around her babies. Her house full of cheap polyester upholstery and carpets is another thing that shatters the woo illusion and makes it obvious the woo shit is just a marketing gimmick and something that feeds her vanity. Zero doubt Robyn imagines herself a powerful magically sexy healing goddess when she looks at herself.

I'm honestly wondering about the logistics of this.
What the hell did Robyn say to triage or the emergency medicine doctor? "Hey this neurosurgeon told me to check in to the emergency department here so he could do brain surgery on my baby." Or did he coach her on what to say knowing he was the on-call neuro that day?
I have literally never seen this shit happen and if it did then I would be submitting a written complaint to hospital admin, the state medical board and CMS. This is so sketchy.
From everything I could figure out the later what happened. He told her he would on-call on such and such dates/time and to go to the ER and tell them “x” and then he would be summoned and immediately proclaim she needed a shunt surgery ASAP. I just wish we could have seen his reaction when he got the MRI and realized what he had gotten himself into.
I mean surgeon have massive egos but this guy is next level because he assumed every other neurosurgeon that had seen Luna was just a punter that didn’t know what they were doing?
I just think Robyn found the greediest surgeon, certainly not the best, but that par for the course for her. It’s also all shady af and was the only way he could get Medicaid to cover his fees was to arrange it as an ER visit.
