The End of Days General - Doomer critical mass?

Predictions, musings, scenarios, whatever you want, this is an open thread for anything end of the world related. There is a lot of discussion about the end of the world these days. Call it what you like; the End Times, Armageddon, the Apocalypse, the Reckoning, but its been on people's minds a great deal lately. But even with as much of a pessimist as I am, I can't get swept up in the hysteria myself. The end of the world or the human race just seems too incomprehensible for me to take seriously. In a lot of ways I feel like the only one not having fun at a party with the whole pandemic going on and all.

Rather than have this just be a doomer circlejerk, I want to know what people really think about the end of the world. What do you think it is most likely to look like? When did we come close? Was mutually assured destruction all it was cracked up to be? Are you a religious person, and/or is the end of the world in God's hands and not humanity's?

What would you do if the world really was coming to an end? Start praying? Try to hold on as long as possible? Kill yourself to spare a worse fate? Would you stick with your religion or try to improve your odds by looking to other dieties?

And if you are certain there won't be an end of the world, why? What assurances do you have that makes you think this way? Or is it simply a topic people should never think about, because there's no true way to set someone's mind at ease about it?

Was there a time in your life where you thought the world might end, but it didn't? I'm particularly interested to hear from people who grew up during the Cold War on this one.

I'm aware there's a six year old thread on this same topic, but I have a suspicion that due to current events people may have changed their minds since then. Call it a hunch.

In all seriousness, I think if some apocalyptic scenario happened like a nuclear war, anything that would seriously make the human race face extinction, what would really happen is reality itself as we know would break.

Look up the theory of "biocentrism", basically I think our fate is tied in with the fate of the universe itself, maybe God would be forced to step in to save us.

But if something like a nuclear war were to happen, it wouldn't be as simple as to say mankind just goes the way of the dinosaurs, things would get weird, incredibly weird.

Our understanding of reality itself would start to change, humanity can't just vanish without things getting VERY weird first.

I get called a Doomer a lot but at the end of the day no, we aren't doomed, our lives mean something, there is meaning to everything, it isn't so simple as to say we can just vanish and none of it mattered in the grand scheme of things, we do matter in the grandest scheme of everything.

But people do need to accept that we could be on the verge of the end of some grand epoch, these aren't normal times we live in, none of this shit is normal, but it doesn't mean it's the end, it could mean it's the start of a new beginning.

I'm predicting a mass die-off of human beings due to the vaccinations and how we're fucking up our immune systems through the policies in place, as well as the constant abuse/misuse of medicines/sanitation procedures. Pretty much all of the requirements for the development of a genuine pandemic are there for it to come about. My guess is that it will happen within a year, but who can say?

In the grand scheme of things, this hasn't been a bad year(s).
The norm, historically speaking, is plague, famine, war, and government oppression. We live in a weird time where such things feel weird. That's truly amazing. We're luckier than 90% of people who ever lived.

The cause of human extinction will be nothing short of a terrible natural disaster. A meteor or something might do it. But as long as at least one male and one female exist, they'll find a way to fuck.

The only way I see the end of the world happening is through something like a meteor crashing into Earth. Other then that, there's the Sun dying, but humanity will probably either be extinct or managed to move off the planet by then.
As for something like World War 3, I don't think we're at that point yet, though I do expect a big war or a economic collapse by the end of this decade.

Given all the doomsday shit I've seen on the internet from YouTubers, Facebookers, Channers, Tabloids and the like over things like asteroids, political strife, mass extinctions, climate change (be it global warming or otherwise), etc. I always take these scenarios or claims with a grain of salt. And if they try to set dates on when it could happen, or bring up shit like the Rapture, then I just disregard it altogether.

Because way I see it, we aren't going to know what'll happen when it happens, and when it'll happen is anyone's guess. There are no hard dates beyond the sun Supernovaing billions of years down the line (though by then, I would hope we'd have colonized at least a handful of the exoplanets we've found). As for me personally. Baring an astray asteroid or solar storm, the only real scenarios I could see dooming modern society are an economical collapse, or China, Russia or the Norks either actually going to war against the rest of the planet or fuck up and we just end up warring anyway because of it. And I don't see that happening until years down the line unless someone does something drastic or stupid.
