I think the production will be similar to Black Panther. The original movie had 4 hours to show all characters and to give exposition. But a bunch of it was heavily cut down on the editing table; causing the movie to suffer with paper-thin characters and unexplained plot-points. Even though I still think that Black Panther would have sucked either way.

You'd hope they could learn from the Snyder Cut where taking extra time on the characters paid off in spades. It's a far better movie than the Josh Whedon version and this is one of the main reasons. (The other main reason is Josh Whedon).

My biggest problem so far is if these super-powerful Eternals are around, what were they doing when Thanos was wrecking the universe?

That criticism keeps coming up, yeah.

They're trying for the same lightning-in-the-bottle catch Nicole Perlman did with Guardians of the Galaxy. The problem was that GotG wasn't envisioned as some stupidly powerful Illuminati types but a group of people scraping out a living on the other side of the spiral arm.

I would've had them in some sort of hibernation, awakened by the various shenanigans to try and fix things.

(Incidentially, this ties into a major issue I have with the Loki series -- why wasn't the Time Variance Authority interested in the 'heist' the Avengers pulled to grab the Infinity Stones?)

I hated Black Panther just because it's so poorly paced, it feels like the first act is extra long and then BAM suddenly you're at the final battle.
