To my eye, there is an irreconcilable conflict of interest between industrialized and indigenous society as they are today. Unless the machine's technology is reconciled to the quantum mechanics of the natural world this decade, the planet will do it for us over the course of the rest of the century, leaving half the industrialized world scorched and the other half under water.
