I've been getting tired of fantasy and sci-fi stuff lately. Not that my interest in the genre is less, but rather so much of it seems to suck these days. And so, so, so much of it is just retelling stories that have been told before, better, but this time making the main character gay, or a woman, or whatever.

But, you know what? That's fine, I suppose. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Then I stumbled on this on a list of books being released this month...

It's... basically a fanfic of Holmes/Watson, where Watson is an overweight, disabled black lesbian. And I assume Holmes back there is a black lesbian, too, but I'm not sure.

I actually looked it up real quickly for the lulz, and turns out that's actually a sequel to a book that appears to have (under)tones of orange man bad. I'm not going to read this drivel to confirm if that's true, but this is just going off of the goodreads info.

Meh all these remakes and reboots just give me an excuse to watch the originals for cheap or most likely free. Though with the common motif of making everything a black woman I'm kind of concerned that subtly people will associate black women with being a knock off or PC "edutainment" that is neither educational or entertaining.
