The IMDb Message Boards -

I think I mentioned this site once before and how it was full of "knowledgeable film buffs" (and even shared a sorry excuse of one too). Well, after scrolling through the boards of many recent releases, I think it's about time I share a little more with you.

At this point I assume you all know what IMDb is, and that each and every entry either has a message board, or the option to make one. Well, after looking at them, I can safely say that they are, no lie, a cesspool that even out rivals the likes of TVTropes, FurAffinity or even /b/ (only without the nude photos and shit). Every board's the same old "Insert 'This actor/actress/writer/CGI/movie/fourm user as a whole' sucks!!!1" topic full of moronic comments and rampant trolling, or completely batshit converations like "Who's hotter?" or "Blank movie is better than this movie" and provide a flimsy excuse to justify their like of that film.

As a whole, it's a mess that's kinda hard to explain without showing you, so here's the boards themselves, and the ED page (NSFW, of course). And to finish what I have to say, here's a few choice quote from various boards:
What user Swoosh2000 had to say about why RoTJ was better than the prequels:
The action scenes in Jedi crap all over the CG poop fest that is Episode III as well. The speeder bike chase is cool, but the Endor Space battle is still probably the great space battle sequence ever put to film or digital.

Tommyholtslander's opinions on CGI as typed by a five year-old:
CGI take a step back!

People are always looking for good CGI in movies. Why? If you want CGI go play a video game! Movies are an art form. The cinematography, lighting, acting, writing, etc. are tools for this art. CGI is a cheap way to paint attractiveness to your movie. I watched the Star Trek into darkness trailer and not only was I shocked at the destruction of Star Trek but all I saw was CGI explosions everywhere! Lens flares! It's disgusting and for a super famous director like JJ Abrams he should know how to make a movie with little to no CGI!
I just feel like CGI is a gimmick to get people to see your movies. Just look at Avatar. A CG fest! The computer characters look terrible against a real background and extremely bad long side
real people! The movie look good as a whole computer animation! But how the
hell did a CGI animated movie win an Oscar for cinematography?! Theirs is no camera! You just set the anchor points in a computer program and the computer does the rest!
I beg you Hollywood stop to CGI. Real film lovers miss the real movie and will appreciate a real film.

ConnorKyle's clearly not a fan of Disney (from the Kimba the White Lion boards):
How did Disney get away with such blatant plagiarism? Does anyone know if they paid anything for the rights or handed over any royalties? Why didn't Tezuka's estate sue Disney the way Kurosawa sued Sergio Leone for ripping off Yojimbo to make A Fistful of Dollars? To have something as wonderful as Kimba soiled in this way is a wound that has never healed. Help me, someone!

Thought I'd link this one, but beetleborgs69's got a bone to pick with SpongeBob (from the Sponge Out of Water boards).

Sad part is, some of these are from failtrolls (IMDb's full of those). Some of these are serious opinions by the poster in question. So what say you, Kiwis? You up for a little looky-loo?

I dunno, a lot of this seems overly nitpicky. Yeah they're spergs, but none of that screams lolcow or even interesting to me. If we made a thread for every website where the users took things a bit too seriously, we'd be making new threads every second.

Just more stupid people and/or opinions to ignore for me. Nothing to see here.

Now if only more people formed their own opinions on movies they love and/or hate, instead of relying on IMDB to guide them like sheep... Shit sties like this example would not need to exist. FACT.

Oh god, I almost forgot about this guy:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2397348/

Looking up his name on Google will eventually explain why he's a lolcow if that imdb profile does not convince you.

I would honestly prefer it if you explained it to me, mostly because I'm lazy.

His IMDB page suggests that he's a pretty chill person who helps the disabled but that's just typical face value, I'm sure.

This article has some of the necessary details: http://twilightfoundry.com/2011/12/edmund-k-lo-the-greatest-actor-youve-never-heard-of/

I will try to post a summary though. Basically, the guy tries to pass himself off as an actor, though people (mostly users at a Power Rangers fan forum he frequented in) called him out on his bullshit. Said actor made rather weak threats thanks to his tenuous grasp of the english language (to the point where "Suiting down the borad" became a bit of an in joke), which also made it easy to spot his sockpu-I mean his "fans" and "Agent". At one point, Mr. Lo here had his own Wikipedia page, only to make threats of not donating and sending his non-existent fans to do...something... in order to prevent said page's deletion.

Has he ever actually starred in anything or no?

All signs point to no. It looks like he tailored his "resume" in the hopes nobody would take the time to disprove him.

I see. Instead of merely advertising himself on websites where nobody would be scouting for talent, he should be looking for local gigs or gigs on the internet like voice acting and the like. I can see that putting yourself on these sites could be useful on occasion but that's not the primary method used to get into parts.
