Sex (or sexual activity, including masturbation) is important in the same way that socializing and eating delicious food and just generally enjoying yourself sometimes are important. The specifics are going to vary from person to person, of course, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Chris' life is shit in these areas and that he's depressed as hell.

I rated it a 5 because while I am pretty apathetic (and dare I say asexual) aboyt sex in general I have yet to have a bad sexual experiance (aside from cub scout camp....but thats a whole different kettle of fish) and believe that an open and healthy sex life (insert a "the room" joke here if you must) is a necessary factor for any enlightened man, woman, or manchild no matter how much one might value sex or how much experiance one has

I really don't ascribe the loveshies' anger and depression to the pure lack of sex. I think it's more like there's this normal thing that everyone else around them can do and that they can't negotiate. It's like being bitter over being disabled. Then again, I really can't be sure what's going on in their heads.

I think the issue of loveshies definitely has more of something to do with a societal thing and just how losing one's virginity is a rite of passage and what makes a man. I mean, a lot of today's culture is obsessed with sex and if you aren't having lots of mindblowing sex you are unhappy. I don't think it's wrong to talk about sex, but at the same time, it brings all of these messages that measures one's worth on their sex life and sexuality and not on their other aspects that make them, well, them.

I do think that love is important, though sex doesn't always equal love, even though sex with love tends to be seen as the ideal typically. However, love is such a broad term, people do need companionship to survive. We humans are social beings (hence why things autism can be so crippling and isolating) and we need love and companionship.

Sex can also be important too to some extent, but it isn't the most important thing in life like what it seems like the media sometimes gives us the impression of. There are other great things life has to offer and experience aside from sex, sex is just simply one of those great things out of countless.

Heh, well, "narcissistic bigot" might be a more accurate description. But still, even with "asocial nimrod," it's possible for all loveshies to be asocial nimrods, but not all asocial nimrods might not be loveshies. Being asocial is bad, but it's not always your fault. Some people are shy. And some people are assholes. Either or.

I picked 5. The reason I did is because, at least to me, sex isn't an essential every day thing. It's not like not having sex will make you explode or die or something. The reason I didn't go below 5 is because I do see it as something of significance in a relationship. It's a way to connect with someone (heh) in a very unique way, plus it makes both parties involved happy (well, it should anyway. If not, you obviously shouldn't be doing it.) so it's hard to really argue against it.

Do I think it's overrated by loveshies who complain that they need sex to live? Well of course. I have yet to hear from people that couldn't physically survive without sex. But that doesn't mean it isn't nice with the right person. (though admittedly it being 'with the right person' is very important to me personally)
