The only tournament scene left that's any worth is for fighting games. The last time I saw E-sports related products was the game "Puyo Puyo Champions" when that released on Steam. I have that game in my library, but mostly due to me wanting a "Puyo Puyo" game and there being no Denuvo in the game's code, unlike "Puyo Puyo Tetris" which has more "Tetris" elements than "Puyo Puyo" and is protected with Denuvo, even to this day.

15 million people watched the grand finals last year which grew by 5 million viewers from the year prior. The prize pool is 33 million this year. If people aren’t playing it they’re sure spending money on it and watching it.
I was about to make this thread! I am also rooting for Liquid, and EG, both are playing like dogshit. I will most likely cheer for Secret, as I refuse to root for a Chink team.
I think either LGD or Secret have it this year. Although, if OG can pull a back to back, that would be insane!

I stopped playing DotA a couple of internationals ago but when I left Europe and Asia were roughly on the same level.
Fuck having TI in China. The crowd is god awful, the main coverage isn't in English for the first time ever, and the talent are all trying to suck China's dick..shit's horrible.
A strictly SEA/Western grand final and one vacant stadium would salvage some of the experience, though.

If OG pulls through I would be Ok with that! Jerax is one of my favourites and they did a killer job last year, I wouldn't be too upset if Secret won either. I'm happy that NaVi made it this year too. I am also not rooting for any Chinese teams. Part of me wonders if a Chinese team will win because the Chinese govt wants that. I am sure every cringy video that Slacks and Kacie do will only show the "good" sides of China.

It's much more spread out these days, Europe has grown to be pretty great at the dotes, but Chinese teams still consistently place top, they were 2nd last year
I agree, I hope they bring it back to Seattle or Vancouver. The audio from the Chinese casters can be heard so easily and its annoying af. You can tell there's been quite a few technical issues too and during the opening ceremonies they fucked up where the teams were coming out from and where they were supposed to stand ahah

I heard there was some crazy stuff that went down with some scalpers though; controversy with companies that sold the tickets partnering with scalpers and artificially inflating prices etc This shit happens everywhere though.
Scalpers are everywhere, sure..but I don't think I've ever seen the crowd this vacant during ti. I think this likely also has to do with the supposed assigned seating? Probably hard to make the arena look good when everyone's sprinkled out across the whole place.
