Simple premise to this one: for those of us who have people in our lives that would attend our funeral, list a few songs that you want played at your wake or funeral. I would say limit it to your top three or four so posts don't get too long. Feel free to say what makes the songs mean something to you, but I'm too lazy for that.

I had a thing where death was a strong possibility, so I had to get my "final affairs" in order. This was something I spent a lot of time thinking about.

Here are mine, in no particular order:

I think what people have played at their funeral says quite a bit about what kind of person they were.

My response is sort of a non-answer.

Although I listen to a wide range of music, I haven't come across music that represents death in terms of honoring/remembering the deceased. I have briefly listened to "A Crow Looked at Me" by Mount Eerie, but that is an immensely emotional and personal album by the artist that it would be inappropriate to use.

If I were to find such a song, I imagine it would encapsulate the underlining themes of Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card.

Free Bird. But like, through the whole thing. Over and over. As soon as the priest started talking, they'd start playing Free Bird again. Nobody could say a eulogy. As soon as some dick started a eulogy, Free Bird again.

And again. And again.

And people would follow everyone who attended the funeral and play Free Bird under their bedroom window all night. And run away and come back when the cops left.
