The last game where you felt "it". -

So I'm sure we've all felt it. Those times when you were younger and you were playing a game and felt that sense of wonder and excitement. Like it couldn't get better than that.

For me the last time was probably the original Mass Effect. The level of quality in the world and story telling felt almost unmatched and was actually able to be shown properly in the tech of the time. Yeah the combat and graphics got better (then a lot worse) but the first game was the last one to make me actually look forward to the game. Yeah I still enjoy games but now I see them as just games. Guess it's just part of growing up and becoming more of a doomer.

So what was the last game that really got you?

Halo. All of them.

For me most recently, it was getting to the two-Scarab fight at the end of 3 on Legendary for the first time since I was like... shit, I must have been 11 or 12 years old.

Rate me autistic, but it took me back to a time where I didn't live in a broken home and the most i had to worry about was doing my homework. I actually teared up a little bit.

The Warthog Run still raises my blood pressure and hairs on my body. I can't think of a single more blood pumping moment then halo 3s warthog run.

Cortana. The whole level. People complain about it all the time but it is the single most challenging Halo level to me and I love it for it.

STALKER. I walked over every inch of that fucking map. There's so many locations that are completely removed from the mainline quest but have a ton of detail and work put into them for whatever reason, like they were originally made for something bigger but were never fully integrated. The end result is a bunch of stuff that you stumble into that has no other purpose than to be there for you to discover. The later games never really hit that same level of exploration IMO.
