Secondary question: let's pretend the Cwcki was about you, how would you handle it? Would you read it obsessively to see what people are saying about you or would you ignore it? How would you handle being recognized online virtually everywhere you went?

I went through a huge weaboo phase in Middle School so I was kinda my school's resident lolcow, if I hadn't grown out of it, I'd probably be like Pixyteri.

I got issues online, but offline, I'm socially accepted and seen as pretty cool. I was actually just talking with someone about how there was no bullying going on in high school. Since we were all lower middle class Mexican Americans, we all looked out for each other. I'd also help people with their class work, so that's another thing. But really, I'm just an average kid in college right now. My biggest weakness is that I use the Internet to vent.

If there was a Cwcki about me I think I'd be pretty obsessed with it, but mostly to better myself and try not to repeat what people harp on. But that is probably just what and idealized me would do. :p

No, why would I care what a wiki about me said? What people on the internets say has no impact on my life. Lastly, if I didn't want to be recognized everyone I wouldn't be a retard and use the same name or give my real life dox everywhere I posted.

That's a good question. I'm not sure. I can't imagine there'd be much to say, so if i read it it would probably get boring really fast.

I guess we have to extend ourselves to a certain extent to make the thought-experiment work, or alternatively idealize the rest of the world a little bit.

Like, I am often socially awkward and don't always know the "proper" thing to say or do, so I can imagine a thread about a certain faux pas I've committed and reading it going "oooh, so that's why Mickey Mouse threw me out of Disneyland!"
I guess if large parts of my life were already being made public there wouldn't be much point in hiding anyway. Chris' problem is that while its arguable how much of what he does is his fault or whatever, it's really hard to make the case that what ever does is inherently good or "the right thing to do", so his Wiki is a cascade of embarrassment. I believe I do have some good qualities and I think I can produce some things of worth (poems, music etc.) that at least partially redeems my flaws, so the exposure wouldn't be as "fatal" to me. At least that's what I believe.

Yeah, I'm really sperging here, but I love thought experiments and there's something very "Truman" about the whole thing.

Not, but I don't believe an entire Wiki could be written about me, it was more about creating a discussion on how to handle exposure, wanted or unwanted, and at what price that might come at. It was a pretty far-out idea, I realize now as I type it out. :LOL:

fair enough. Okay yes, if my entire life were being documented the way that Chris's has been, it would be weird and maybe a little embarrassing. I'm sure that at first, i'd obsessively read everything that was being said about me, but i really think that after a while i would stop caring. I like my life, and i ultimately don't care what people think about it.

Having attended a Christian private school after entering middle school, I had gotten saved a few months after I started. Cue the crazy born-again Christian phase, posting a topic that states evolution to be a lie, hearing a video that criticized creationism that ended posting comments I regret making, and being called a hypocrite due to my behavior. I thank God for having grown out of that phase and maturing into a more moderate, open-minded Christian. Had I stayed like that, I'd be a complete idiot who is also a stain upon Christianity.

If I had a webcam when I was in elementary- middle school, I would certainly have gotten a thread in the Lolcow section. Now that I'm an adult, I act normal, and have a good social life, but at the moment I do have one of the nerdy beards, and I bring a Saint Seiya bag to college, but my friends and I like it so bite me lol. I'm a nerd but I don't make Youtube vids or have a Deviantart or anything so I'm not gonna be a lolcow anytime soon. But back to middle-school, in middle school I was less in shape, and had a shit ton of acne. There was a girl I liked in 7th grade and we talked and she said I could be her boyfriend, so as an awkward middle schooler of course I handled it well right? nope, I called her every day, till one day her mom answered and told me never to call the house again, cuz if she didn't answer I would just keep calling. She dumped me, and her boyfriend told me to stay away from his girl. Now afterwords I realized how fucking stalker ish my behavior was, I was like 14 I think though, I would obviously never do that again. I believe anyone who is a nerd, has lolcow potential, but being a nerd doesn't automatically make you one.
