This list reads like some moron skimmed real quickly through a handful of cards and just farted it out in a halfassed WOKE statement. You could go through the 20,000+ cards printed and find a lot of weird shit if you look at it through this warped lens of wokeness. Why didn't they ban a card like Reign of Terror- Destroy all White or all Green creatures. The art is literally a tribal African looking guy snapping his fingers. What about Mass Calcify- Destroy all non-White creatures? With this logic you could ban a metric fuckton of cards, maybe majority of them.

It's mildly funny that if you look back at something like Mirage or Visions, you've got these interesting and at times surrealist african-influenced locales in Dominaria that hardly feel out of place and fit into the general vibe, being a plenty memorable vibe with lots of interesting and wonky shit.

Then Wizards shies away from doing anything related to that continent for eons, preferring instead to just change a few color palettes for some uninspired, vapid, generic fantasy fuckers here and there. But now we're going back - back to Egypt, one of the most interesting mythologies in existence that just seems chalk full of stuff to work with!

...and it's perhaps one of the most boring blocks I can think of in modern existence. The mechanics were boring, there's very few interesting or fun cards, its 'lol egypt' influence is surface-level horseshit only, and it essentially only exists to get turbonuked after doing fuckall to make anyone care about or be attracted to the plane - with some of the WORST of the cardstock issues becoming apparent then. So it's... what, afro-orientalist egypt, razaketh, abrade, and then a bunch of shit?

Before it came Kaladesh, which despite some dumb ideas like energy was this set that had a gorgeous and distinct art style that at least somewhat felt like it was paying real homage to Indian art and influence. And it had some big, dumb, exciting shit to fuck around with. Next, Ixalan was just Aztecs/Incas-Mayans-Conquistadors-Pirates -- while it was kindof dumb in how it wasted the historical influence with DINOSAURSSSSSSS, it was overall a fun, goofy, schlocky set that had a lot of wonky cards that were fun to play with. Amonket really stands out as one of the absolute worst duds of a set in recent history, so I guess all that kween pandering really paid off.

He kind of has to bend the knee if he wants to stay in content creation, though. He can't come out in the All Lives Matter camp because he'll get cancelled for being racist, and if he stays silent that's complicity with racism and thus grounds for cancellation too. He can't moderate his opinions on BLM either because he's white, if he doesn't go balls to the wall he's just proving he's a racist and needs to be cancelled.

I had no idea he did that since I don't follow his content. I guess he blew it then lol. Usually if you just never talk politics and your topic is pop-whatever you can get away scott-free. Sometimes even if you do talk politics obliquely, like Jenny Nicholson. She's been pretty quiet about blacks with little issue.
