Note: "Magical girl" refers to a genre rather than a specific series. However, fans of different magical girl series tend to intersect a lot so it can (and should) all be contained to one thread.

Ah, magical girls. You're so great, with your unrelenting positivity and healthy messages for boys and girls of all ages. It's only natural that you would attract fanbases full of happy, positive people- oh wait.

Despite basically every single magical girl series preaching messages of love, friendship, empathy, girl power, hope, and everything good in the world, many members of the magical girl fandom seem to love tearing other fans down and generally being horrible. This is because, unfortunately, any series that's even remotely female-positive tends to attract radfems in droves and it isn't long before they start pushing their agendas onto others and engaging in regular Tumblrina behavior. These radfems also tend to react to males in the fandom like they're made of sulfuric acid, screeching at them to stop "invading" their "safe spaces" while bitching about how literally every show ever is dedicated to men so they're not allowed to have magical girls; to defend themselves, radfems will often claim that they're trying to prevent the magical girl fandom from becoming like the My Little Pony one, although there's no evidence of that happening. In the end, ironically all they're doing is rigidly enforcing the gender norms they claim to despise.

Interestingly, older shows (such as Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura) don't seem to attract that much vitriol. But by far the absolute worst magical girl fandom is the Precure (or Pretty Cure) one. It probably deserves its own thread but I'm keeping it here for convenience's sake. I think what makes PreCure fandom drama so fantastic is that (by and large) the fandom is made up of women over 16 years old who are taking a series created to sell toys to little Japanese girls way too seriously.

One notable case is when a PreCure "callout" blog kept insisting that hentai of PreCure characters is and should be treated as child porn... despite the fact that they're just 2D characters. Like, I'm really grossed out by porn of underage characters, but putting it on the same level as actual child porn is so fucking insulting. The situation escalated after a blogged named Wolfrun told them to calm their tits and not make such a big deal out of it... at which point the blog implied that he is a pedophile who shouldn't work with children.

Magicalgirlconfessions, magicalgirlfanproblems, and the PreCure LiveJournal are amazing sources of drama, although you're going to have to do quite a bit of digging. If someone says something even remotely controversial, expect to see lots of flailing in the comments.

I'll add more later, but this OP is long enough. We haven't even scratched the surface of the confession blogs and what perpetual drama machines they are.
