Due to my recent creepypasta binge crossing over into a 2 day crime channel marathon, my mind wandered to the subject of evil after watching that "scale of evil" series. What truly defines an evil person? is it more evil to carry out horrifying crimes personally like serial killers or einsatzgrupen, to oversee and organise them directly like Death camp commandants or paramilitary leaders, or to order them from afar and never seeing the true impact of their crimes like all too many dictators? bearing these in mind just who has the best argument of being the most evil man/woman in history?

Seriously though, I'd have to say Josef Mengele and the soldiers of Unit 731 for the sheer atrocities that they committed during World War II. To think that anyone could commit such horrific actsscour the sake of it is appalling. I'd say that their actions were evil, there's really not a lot else you can call it.

Contrary to what the A-Logs believe, Adolf Hitler is indeed much worse than Chris. Hitler was the perfect storm: charismatic, arrived at a time when Germany was in shambles, and in an era with technology that allowed him to inflict untold, coldly efficient destruction on foreign countries and his own people. Sure, there were plenty of other historical figures whose hearts were as hardened as Adolf Hitler's...but none of them had the devastating war machinery, efficient transportation, and adding machines (from the Holocaust) of the 1930s and 1940s. True, Hitler did nothing new. But he did do it on a scale never before seen, and never since seen. Without subsequent developments such as the atomic Nash equilibrium and the United Nations, we'd probably have a new most evil person every decade, thanks to the hypothetical horrendous misuse of science and technology. People don't change, but what they can do changes. That all plays into how evil you truly are.

Mao Zedong gets an honorable mention for letting hundreds of millions of Chinese die in famine, although he was more of a bumbling dumbass who couldn't into economics.

But in all seriousness I'd have to say Hitler. Just the scale of the concentration camps, his ability to enthrall an entire nation into agreeing with his horrible policies, the fact that to this day people align themselves with him and his beliefs etc. Communists distance themselves from Stalin and his atrocities. If you're going to believe in fascism, why align yourself with either the or one of the most hated men to ever live?
