Ok, so in the thread about Chris' new youtube video, he makes a comment about "Angel Bob" negotiating with the principal, with Chris saying that the best way to make friends is to negotiate.

Considering the recent fallout that his gal-pals were nothing more than pity pals and were not really his friends, it would make perfect sense that is what occured.

I know this is being discussed in the youtube video thread but I think it should be discussed here as a separate topic.

Yeah I agree, that comment is really bizarre, and rather fascinating considering recent events.

The way Chris says it seems rather telling too, like he's struggling to hold back the tears. Whether that's due to 'BAWW SO WONEWY' or him genuinely missing the lumberjack is something we may never know...

Out of the entire school video that statement made stuck out to me the most. Maybe it was just the wierd way he said it, with pauses as if he was either bitter about what he was saying, or was best thinking about how to word it (Or maybe just autism).

I think Alec's theory on it is a very plausible one. Chris was absolutely incapable of making friends, just like he is now, and Bob stepped in. He probably asked the administration to help Chris out in the friend department and that's how the Gal-pals were formed.

So did Chris always have the sinking suspicion that his gal-pals were not friends on a more significant level?

I mean, before this latest hissy fit, if you poked and prodded him enough, he'd always drop some tidbit that made it sound like his high school days were not idyllic. (Look at that one Kacey call, where Chris blithely mentions he didn't keep in contact with them.) So assuming this is true, did Chris know that someone was pulling the strings to get the gal-pals in his orbit and he just went along with it (because he deserves it and whatnot), or was he in the dark until that e-mail dropped?

Yeah, this seems like the most plausible explanation to me.

there could be a lot of things behind that statement. It could be that Bob was from a much older generation, and that haggling/wheeling and dealing/negotiating was actually a type of social bonding for men in those times, and Bob passed that on to Chris because he wasn't aware that that's not really how things work any more.

Or it could be that Chris has seen Bob heatedly arguing with school officials so much and so early in his life that in order to keep Chris from being stressed out or upset about it, Bob just told him "No, we weren't mad at each other. We were just 'negotiating'. We're all friends. Now stop crying and eat your happy meal."

Or possibly Chris is just used to having to bargain, bribe, and plead with people to have anything to do with him, and that's just how he thinks all friendships work.

Or maybe Chris has absolutely no fucking clue how friendships work because he's never had any, and he's just pulling the negotiating idea out of his ass because he's a moron.

I'm guessing Barb kept it secret from Chris until he found out the truth. After the 3rd or 4th straight hour of "WHY, MOMMY, WHY" shrieked through his sobs, she finally got fed up and said "Look, kid, those friends were hired, so get over it already".

Chris was mistaken, though. He says that negotiation is one way to make friends when in actuality it's the only way for him to make friends.

This is what I was thinking. Of course, that does depend on when the video itself was filmed - if it was before the "friendly truth" then that incident probably couldn't have even happened.

The government provides the tugboat, so its only fair that the school provides gal-pals.

I think maybe we're reading too much into it. Chris probably doesn't even understand the word "negotiate" beyond it involving talking, and he just wanted to include Angel Lumberjack in his fantastic accomplishment just like he included Mommy Snorlax, Sonichu, Rosechu, etc.

Yep. For Chris, negotiation means taking (for him) Remember when he has tried to negotiate with people in the past, he offers minimal effort and demands the world from other people. So I imagine that he thought Bob went to the school to basically demand the school provide friends/asspatters and in turn, Chris would just... uh... let them pat his ass. Yep.

Jokes on you, they're samey-same. LEGO Bob is just the avatar of Demon Servant Bob.

One thing I always found strange was how he said in the past that he only sat with his 'gal pals' on even days. Or odd, whichever. Now, I know autistic people like repetition etc., but it seems rather strange. Maybe someone DID have a word with the girls to sit with him every other day, and on the off days they were nowhere to be found.

I thought he mostly blamed moving away for why he never kept in touch with them. I could be confusing that with something else though.

Back in the old days we didn't have this PC anti bullying crap.
When you get bullied you fought, when you fought you two would sit outside the principal's office as he/she called your patents. You just sat there, quiet, knowing you're super fucked, and so is the kid next to you. You start sone nervous small talk and become friends.
Back in the old days you fought a guy and they became your best friend. This happened all the time.
Chris's mind may have seen these interactions with two JERKS as "negotiation"
