When you have teenagers (16 to 1
to grown "matured" men and women lamenting about how their childhood was ruined by some of the new shit that's being put out, they obviously have no interesting qualities about them.
There are some Tumblrers interested in older things, but for the most part, the ones who are interested like them but don't obsess, or else they're really only in it for the aesthetic (e.g. the popular blog vintagegal). I imagine both parties suppress any obsession they may feel because they don't want to get chewed out by social justice side of things for it, because as you know "older=more problematic by default" according to tumblr logicTumblr also has this thing that they don't really enjoy media that was made before they were born. I never see them obsess over old movies or stuff from the 80s/70s and before (besides Star Wars, and that's only because it's mainstream to like Star Wars).

The 50s being all about milkshakes and racism? Guess their milkshakes only brought white boys to the yard. (Sorry, I couldn't resist).Reminds me of this post:

You're not allowed to like anything from the past, it's all racist. OP's white liberal guilt is the icing on the cake.
I think it's interesting to guess what is it that in certain sites like Bustle or Buzzfeed that they're so 90s spergy they're also the typical SJW/Fat acceptance/POC > Whites bloggers. Is there a connection between 90s-talgia and "internet progressiveness"?

I find that anti-nostalgia can be just as bad as nostalgia. Knowing that there was legal in the 60s doesn't mean I can't enjoy psychedelic rock.
Yeah, people who scream "STOP ROMANTICIZING X THERE WAS RACIST AND SEXIST SHIT!!!" are pretty obnoxious and stupid too.
Also please God let nobody be nostalgic for fucking Twilight.

Wait until 2025 rolls around, I assure there will be.
When babies being born right now get older, they'll go on and on how they grew up in the '10s and they'll sperg with nostalgic glee over all the crap that they don't even remember, and we couldn't give two shits about now.Wait until 2025 rolls around, I assure there will be.

So am I racist for liking Chuck Berry or what? I mean he's black, but he's also famous in the 50's so I'm confused.

No, no, you're not racist, you're an abuse apologist/supporter of underage sexual exploitation 'cause of that bathroom scandal. Get your reasons for being a shitlord straight, shitlord.
I see it among those who are into the horror movie scene (though they're quiet and relatively drama-free and keep to themselves) or among the various Trekkies because they're all supportive of how "progressive" old Trek is, but that's kind of the extent of it. If it's old, it's to be complained about, almost no question, unless they can spin it as being some kind of pinnacle of feminism or something (like the Alien movies).
In fact, I was talking about Gone With The Wind with a friend of mine and went to look for something related to it on Tumblr and you would not BELIEVE the number of people who complain the film condones an abusive rape relationship between Scarlett and Rhett (based on that scene where they have that big fight and he drags her back upstairs). You'd think they'd be all up in arms with it being made in a pre-Civil Rights era and featuring slavery and black slave characters who could veer on the edge of stereotype at times, but no. No it's the interpretation of a canonically volatile relationship on the part of both characters being 'abuse glorified as passion' that gets their panties in a bunch.
Talk about your misguided priorities.
