The Official Hovercraft Thread. - HOVERCRAFT RULE!

Looking around, I noticed there's not already a thread here about how awesome hovercraft are. Personally, I think hovercraft are heckin sweet!

What does everyone else think? How rad would you rate hovercraft, on a scale of 1 to 10? And if you answered anything but 10, please explain why you chose the wrong answer.

Boys' Life magazine had ads in the back where you could send away for instructions on how to build a hovercraft. I'm really curious what I would have gotten had I ever sent away for it. I was hoping for something like the DeLorean in Back to the Future 2, but somehow I'm betting the reality would fall a bit short of that.

Back in the late 80s or early 90s there were ads on TV for remote control hovercraft. They looked like so much fun. Going from land over water and back to land. So cool! Sadly my parents never spent several hundred dollars to get me one. Which was probably for the best. I would have just made it go in circles in the backyard. Found it boring. Then taken it somewhere with water, a river, the beach, sink it and break it.

I've always found them underwhelming because they in everything they do they are mediocre at best, or awful. As a kid I thought they were the coolest thing to ever exist and figured eventually we'd get them to FLY!!!!!!

I rate them 4/10. I'd rather get an ATV and boat.
